The stock parking brake warning light is not bright enough to overcome bright sunshine, senility, and not paying enough attention. I installed a bright LED panel light in parallel with the original light on my B3350.

On a B2650, one could order the original Kubota parts and bracket for the B3350, I'm sure they'd fit, or go on the cheap and install a roller microswitch using a sheet metal bracket etc to get it into an appropriate position.

Lee,

Have you had the most recent software upgrade recall done yet? It was from back in November of 15 I think. In any case, my B3350 originally defaulted to "no auto-regen" at start up. So like you, I was in the habit of pressing the far right button to enable auto-regen (on the fly at more than 2000 rpm). After the last upgrade, that procedure was reversed without telling us. No it defaults (like the newer B3350's) to auto-regen enabled.

You cannot (or at least I cannot) do a parked regen unless the system is asking for one (parked regen light on the panel flashing. Then, if I have difficulty gettng parked regen to start, this has worked for me. Make sure all do-dads are off PTO off etc (my seat switch is bypassed so mine will run with PTO going and me not sitting in there). Shut off tractor, put parking brake on. Put tranny range selector in N position. Re-start and make sure throttle is all the way to idle, push parked regen button. Parked regen light should come on and engine RPM should smoothly go up to 2000 rpm. Go have a cup of coffee or something waiting for the engine to return to idle. During this whole process you cannot do anything to or with the tractor - don't touch the throttle etc.

Note, when it finishes, it it'll keep on running at idle, loading up the DPF again - really stupid. Kubota should have programmed it to shut down by itself after a parked regen- DUH.

Bumperm,
thanks for the info on the software upgrade. I have a call to the dealer and will find out.
I did get it to do a parked regen this morning. Must be operator error or getting familiar with the procedure. The only thing I did differently than the other day (I had everything parked, and in neutral as you suggested) was to start with the throttle all the way down. The manual referred to "idle speed" but I really didn't know if that meant all the way down.
Thanks for the info. It was a big help.

I asked my dealer if he about the switch in the auto gen button and he didn't know about it. I haven't regenerate since the upgrade as we are between seasons. Guess I won't push the button and see what happens.

Hello everyone,

I am a new 2650 owner and I did not initially realize that there were multiple tiers, stages, or ratchets? of parking brake locking. I am not near my tractor during the week, so I thought I woudl ask while I remember. I also did not see anyone mentioning this in the thread... So:

How does the parking brake locking mechanism work? Are there say 3 levels of locking, does it have an unlimited amount of degrees of freedom where it can lock, or something else?

Basically, the brake lever will lock the pedal however far you push the pedal, give or take some range with each increment in the pawl. It's just a bunch of teeth that can catch. You can look underneath and see it all.

Thanks for the response, I shall take a look this weekend.

Another question:
Is anyone aware of the ability to get wider front tires? Alternatively, I have seen pictures of tractors that have double tires on their front axles. I do not recall any photos of a B26/3350, but I imagine the principle is the same.

The B2650 doesn't have a parking brake on warning light, the B3350 does, but I find it easy to miss, especially in bright sunlight. If the tractor is driven with the parking brake on it will result in rapid wear of the brake friction material. Unfortunately, these parts of the system are within the tractor case, so relatively expensive to repair.

After goofing a couple of times, I installed bright LED warning light in parallel with the existing light on my B3350.

A buzzer could be used too, but some additional wiring would be needed to keep the buzzer from driving you nuts during warm up or whenever working on or around the tractor when it's running and the parking brake is on. There's a fix to make a buzzer more user friendly, only sounding when you are seated in the tractor, the engine is running, and the parking brake is on.

I already have my seat/PTO safety switch disabled (and I do not recommend that others do such a stupid thing!!) I did this as whenever I mow and twist in the seat or go over a bump, or take my weight off the seat for any reason, the engine dies. Dumb. I unplugged the seat from the wiring harness and plugged in a little wire jumper to short the two pins in the harness plug. My tractor is now happy even if I bounce up and down while mowing. AND, my seat switch is currently unused. If I wire the seat switch in series with the parking brake warning buzzer, it won't sound until I am seated. It's on my to do list.

Bumperm,
Is it possible to take a picture of your parking brake brake and switch bracket ? I may already have the bracket on my 2650 and I can't tell from the WSM. I tried to look up the bracket part number on the parts list but couldn't locate it. I'm guilty of leaving the parking brake on.
Thanks,
Randy

Having forgotten to release the parking brake a couple times already, I had a look while the panel was off doing other wiring for flood lights. There's a switch mounted on a bracket for the parking brake lever, guessing it's for using the PTO or something? My plan is to wire up a LED warning lamp using the existing switch if possible. Buzzer may be a good idea if tied into the seat switch as described by Bumperm.
