A few weeks ago I finally broke down and trailered my
B3350 to the dealer to get the computer programming "updates" done, picked it up the next day and brought it home. I've had no problems since I bought it, and still have had none with over 270 hours now - purchased November of '13.
The other day the dealer called me and said they had some more computer updates to do. So took it in yesterday. He called me today saying one of the things the update calles for is to inspect / replace a "vent hose" on the turbo. Said than the one on mine was collapsed and needed to be replaced.
Now I know tubo's have an exhaust inlet and outlet, and an intake air inlet and boosted air outlet, and even an oil line inlet and outlet to keep the little bearings happy . . . I've never heard of a vent line, though the exhaust side does have a wastegate, but that simply allows exhaust gas to bypass the turbo's hot side turbine. He said the line, which he didn't have in stock, is under the turbine and difficult to get to and is all collapsed and scrunched up (sounds like an oil line to me)?
Anyway, this is a heads up on the turbine "hose" issue . . . dealer said he didn't want me to take it until fixed as he didn't want the turbo to get trashed. Still gotta think it's an oil line and probably doesn't have adequate thermal protection and gets heat damaged - - just a guess, I haven't seen it.
