Hi all.

I still have squirrels. In gutters and boxed beam in baloney. Posted last year and best we came up with was shooting them and poison with Tom Cat mouse poison. Shooting is out. Mouse poison they just kicked aside.

New plan. Consulted with roach, bug and rat company. They do restaurants and food storage places. Told me he now needs special license to rid house of squirrels. He suggested
Critter Ridder. Made by Havahart. Ace hardware sells. It repels skunks, groundhogs, dogs, cats, squirrels, chipmunks & raccoons. After spending $20.00 at Ace, i checked ingredients. I'm almost tempted to return. It has:
Oil of black pepper..... 0.480
Piperine, from Oleoresin of black pepper 0.185
Capsaicin & related Capsaicinoids 0.032
Other 99.303
=100.00 %

I could spread black pepper, cayenne pepper, moth balls and other other stuff that just might be offensive to squirrels. Any ideas? A few years ago I had some snacks in a wall near my pool. I waited for them to come out and never caught them. But would spot them shooting back in when not ready with shovel. I took a sprayer and sprayed a lot of gasoline into to hole. I never saw snakes there again. Of course, I don't know if it worked or they just left.

The snakes could have taken care of young tree rats.

I use the air rifle on pests.
It is an effort of opportunity, but I'm ahead of critters this spring.

I had them in attic once. Figured out how they got and made a funnel shaped piece on hardware cloth like a minnow trap do the could go out not in. When I was convinced they were out I sealed the access.

Only thing I know to do is find a way to keep them out of where I don't want them.

Live catch traps always work for me. Squirrels, raccoons, rats etc.

I actually found a squirrel today in the bottom of the blower closet of a home I'm renovating. About 6 months ago I smelled a dead animal but figured it was in the attic so I just left it.
Totally forgot about it till my face was 1 foot away from it while working on the drip tray.
Found it!

While I use some poison I have never heard of the black pepper one. Something I will give a try. I always place poison in confined places so other pets/animals can't get into it.
For squirrels close to the house I use a air rifle. Those little devils can do so much damage in a short time I would suggest getting them under control asap.

Good Luck

I had squirrels in the attic. Used bright light and a jam box in the attic for a week, then closed the access point.
Had skunks in the craw space under the house. Used moth balls to get rid of them.
Have had rats all over. Used poison.
Now I use the plug in ultra sonic rodent repellers in my attic, in my house, in my garage. Now problems. See dropping once in a while in my garage, but they leave on their own.

I have just concluded the squirrel wars of 2016 at my house.

I tried mothballs (they literally batted them around)

Rat Traps (kept setting them off and not getting caught)

Glue traps (walked around them)

Glue traps with Peanut Butter in the middle (end of squirrel wars, after 2 days)

Glue traps seem like they would be good. I just don't like them . Traps to catch them and move away, I thought of. But, will they come back if I take them a mile away, like a dog might do? I like the repellent of strong peppers speed around. i wondered if pepper oil could be bought inexpensively? The $20 bottle of repellent only treats 80 square feet of area for 30 days.
Bought at Ace hardware. Haven't checked on line or TSC yet. I'm gonna drift over there in about an hour. Still looking for ideas.

Cheers......Coffeeman
