a cooler morning, low sixties going up to mid seventies today. Haven't checked the rain gauge but a downpour last night dropped about a third of an inch, unfortunately all at once. Definitely will need to make a stick run this morning.
I studied the radar yesterday, and hustled to get the travel trailer done, and off it went to the local rv campground. Got it settled in ok by myself, did not hit any trees (good thing...these things are built like tin foil) and once the right power adapter was bought, ac was on, the a/c went on (flat charge of electric per day, running the a/c to keep the mold out)
The River Mersey, my do we learn things here....that song is humming through my head now. Back in the days when you could actually understand the words to songs...No autographed John Lennon sweatshirts Eric?
Forecast is dry for several days, then gosh on Sunday it shows rain for five days. Looks like I'll be mowing lawn all weekend to get ready for that. But I'll take the rain, the orchard and veggie garden sure like it. This is the time last year my orchard partially drowned so with my new ditches, bring it on.
He said with fingers crossed.
Going to sharpen mower blades this morning, will pick up the JD with the FEL, and yes, yes, yes....lots of wood blocks and jack stands underneath. What happened to Mike in Texas should be a hard lesson to us all. It really can happen to us....
Somehow I find sharpening blades very satisfying. I know many folks who throw out perfectly good blades when they get dull and buy a new set. ? Our grinder on the farm was from my grandfather's old Ford car dealership in the 30's. Big old freestanding unit that shot sparks out the side of the motor the brushes apparently were worn through...Getting the blades off the bushhog with a hammer and wrench was really the worst. Today with air powered tools this is so much easier. And safer.
