Can someone pls tell me about the "maintenance" (ie. oil changes/types of oil, etc) of the 3.5EB vs. the 5.0? BobG in VA

Both call for at least synthetic blend with the 5.0 taking 5w20 and the EB 5w30. Most seem to agree that 5,000mi intervals is the threshold for the EB because with a direct injection motor you will get some fuel dilution of the oil. I used to change oil in my 2011 5.0 at 7,500 with no issue but if I had it to do over wouldn't push past 5k given how much I towed and beat on that motor. Nothing really special to taking care of either motor. I'm at 4.5k on my 2016 and did the first change at 2.5k and will change again at 5k then 5k intervals going forward. I know others that just commute could go longer intervals but mine tows too much to be comfortable with it. Everything else from the flywheel back is the same with both motors. And both motors will pull a load believe me with the 5.0 actually getting maybe 1mpg higher while towing heavy loads but the EB just does it with less drama (revs, downshifts, etc)...and my 5.0 had 3.73s and my current truck has 3.55s...same 6-speed tranny.

I'm pretty sure a little hair dryer V6 beats the 7.3 in both HP and torque. The 7.3 does have the bigger frame and heaver axles/suspension that make it more stable towing though.

Reliable is good and i know the 7.3 is for the most part, it still has it's issues like every owner carrying a spare CPS, but having more power out of 213 CI vs 444 is remarkable.

The same but I do change mine early on my EB at 5K intervals just because.

Besides, they are going to build a plant in MX so maybe I don't want a Ford anymore.

I bought my used 2012 Ford Fusion (ex-Enterprise rental car) from my local Ford dealer because it looks so American I thought it must BE American.

Well, it is American but made in Mexico not the USA.

Bear in mind that the car with the highest USA content is the Toyota Camry, made in Georgetown, Kentucky.

Buick is the largest selling car brand in China. And GM sells more vehicles in China than in the USA.

The stock ownership of all these brands is spread throughout the world.

I realize that, but so is calling it a wennie motor when it will out haul and out tow anything from GM, Ram, Toyota, and even Ford in its class. Only one beating it is Nissan with its 5.0L Cummins.

We could go on all day engine vs engine. In reality both might be good with each having advantages.

Engine means absolutely nothing if transmission isn't going to back it up. I think the transmission is more important than engine, at least in a tow/haul perspective.

This was set in stone when Obama's EPA set new fleet mileage standards. Aluminum bodies lighted it up but engines are going to get smaller. I was on a suburban Z71 forum in 2009 when I bought my last suburban and told people then V8's would go away by 2016, no other way to comply with standards just adopted, they laughed at me. Now we are here.... Look for 4 cylinder F150's, unless, you demand through your representatives you want the regulations rolled back... Up to you...HS

At bike forums every year they have a guy who says, I heard from the dealer something. One of the most have come true, at some point, but I can't of it offhand.
