Also distracting is a wasp, large bumble bee around your head, especially if allergic. Same with a large wolf spider on back side of sun visors hen you pull it down. Especially if it's in the run and you have arachnophobia. I've also heard of head ons due to a sneeze.
Texting is illegal in Ohio if under 18. ?? I've seen better teenage drivers than some adults.

My son went to lift spare in car last year and found a few spiders. He spent the next few months talking about torching the car. Hate to see what would have happened if a spider had made it up to the front seat.

I've personally had the bumble bee and spider senario. It does catch you a little off guard in surprise. Actually the spider was worse and I'm not afraid of them. That sucker was as big as my hand and fast on all eight feet.
Last recent thing was driving down I-75 and felt a tickle on back of neck. It was a tick. Yuck. Out the window. Few miles more, felt another one. Yikes. Out the window again. Next rest area I all but stripped naked, looking for them. I hate those things.
I'll admit I've texted while driving more than I should" if any". Ofcourse " I know how to do it" safely... LOL

I had a honey bee come in the window of my old '55 Chevy, right down my neck, and of course he stung me. Lucky me, I was on a country road, got stopped quickly, jumped out of the car and very quickly got out of my shirt. About that time, a guy on a tractor plowing the fence line, came by. He knew what happened; he yelled at me "Did you get him?" I said, "Yeah, and he got me!".

Gee, as a pilot I'd trim the plane, change frequencies 2-3 times, set flaps all while in the circuit on approach and all that with a hand held microphone and look out for traffic as well as land the plane.

I’m sure that you are being very careful to do everything right so you don’t crash and die. Distracted drivers do not have the same mind set.

The skies are not as crowded as the road. You typically have more time to recover from a mistake in a plane

I was behind a driver today weaving from side to side. I was sure she was texting. Nope just talking on the phone, blank stare, head right up there.

I really think there are two types of people on this issue. Those who do text and drive and those who lie about it. Sure, is it a bad habit, yes, but I think everyone does it at least some.

There's another type: those who do it because they believe they are capable and still maintain focus on driving even though other people clearly cannot.
