Your absolutely right Dave. Thats for reminding me. :salute:

Jabonee, I am totally impressed by your response. It's a good man that can take a step back and listen to contrary input. You went up yet another notch in my book.

Jabonee, a Red Carpet dealer does not get onto TBN and bash the company that feeds him. We ought to be truthful and helpful to the folks here. I'm the first to admit when there is a problem, and people like that honesty. I'll flat out say, like you do, that part xyz is bad and needs to be replaced, or whatever. But if you have an internal issue with support from Mahindra, you ought to go directly to the department head and hash this out. That's an internal "family" issue, and I do not think it is wise to air that out like you are. Absent that, I do really appreciate your knowledge and the help you give folks on this forum.

Browneyes, there is a grading program for dealers. One small part is market share and sales penetration. Other sections relate to service, special service tools, after hours and mobil support. Others are branding, like are we using the newest signs, are our trucks plastered with Mahindra logos, etc. Another section concerns parts stocking, do we sell Mahindra fluids, etc. Another part is about implements. It's a fairly extensive report card. If you are a volume dealer with a modern facility and you take advantage of the things Mahindra has to offer its dealers, it's not all that hard to get into the top tier. It's a little more difficult if you are a multi-line dealer as the scoring is weighted in favor of Mahindra only dealerships.

When a dealer hits the Red Carpet level, he gets some recognition, and also some Mahindra bucks he can use for a variety of things in the Mahindra store (for dealers). It's a cool program.

I'll disagree on the recognition bit as they won't even keep the red carpet list updated on their website. That's really pretty pathetic and there's no good excuse for their very poor website that lacks areas regarding service and even in sales info. When looking for my new and first tractor I found the Mahindra website if anything frustrating and lacking in the kind of info I was looking for. It's even sparser when looking for anything service oriented. There's simply NO EXCUSE for that and you dealers should be bugging the living H E L L out of them about it. I know that if I'd made the kind of investment you're talking about and they won't even get off of their lazy backsides and recognize your efforts on the website where your investment might translate to sales and some kind of a real return, I'd be ticked off.

If you saw where Mahindra was, as far as a website, a few years ago, you would marvel at their advancement. There is a lot of room for improvement, and I think they are trying. I did try a "build your own tractor" sort of deal on the MUSA website recently and tried to push the info through to a dealer, and I found it burdensome. They need to make that simpler. Our own Dave's Tractor website is really dated and we need to do a ton of work to it, but I still get a bunch of leads every week that translate into sales, many more leads than I get from the MUSA website. And that is what is most important to us dealers, we want viable leads so we can sell. As for the customer, if you are already an owner, you need the website to provide service and parts info, perhaps free downloadable manuals. For the not-yet-a-customer, you need an easy way to get stats and rough pricing, and an easy way to contact a dealer.

Mahindra for the most part is very good to its dealers.

I couldn't even find a picture of a 1538 with a backhoe on it on the Mahindra site. LOL It's not exactly a new tractor. I think I finally found one as part of a tractor for sale ad somewhere. I don't think they are trying hard enough. They could probably do better just putting with a high school kid to work on it this summer. Like I said, there's no good excuse. It's more of a matter of priorities and anything service related is too far down that list.

I urge all who have issues or ideas on how to improve Mahindra's website to let them Know. We as dealer owners, techs or sales people can only do so much from our side. " If you build it they will come" Likewise " If customers speak Mahindra will listen" You can do this two ways. Go to Mahindra usa.com. Scroll to bottom of page. Look at right side and find 'Company" heading. Select "Contact" and have at it. You can also call Mahindra customer service at 1-877-449-7771. EXT 1103. That will get you to Brenda. Please be nice to her if you call. Remember there our some people who will not hear an angry cry but will strain to hear a wisper. :jump:

One would hope that they are watching this site if anything. I've already given them some feedback via their contact link but I highly doubt that anyone there is looking at that stuff. Besides they should already know their website sucks. You'd have to be living under a rock not to know it.
Usually there is only one thing that gets the attention of people like this and that is declining market share. Trouble is by that time the horse has already left the barn and you've lost tons more in lost revenue that you would have spent taking care of business in the first place. Plus due to market inertia you're gonna lose more and you can't do anything about it but color it gone and hope it's not too late.

Mahindra isn't the only one with web site issues. Even some of the prettier sites have problems: missing data, contradictory numbers, pictures, etc. Does that tractor have telescoping 3pt arms or not? Cruise control? Where exactly is that fuel tank? I've found the dealers advertising on tractorhouse to be the best source of information because they post pictures.

My pet peeve is pricing however. At least Mahindra gives you MSRP so you can compare tractor A to tractor B. It is a complete waste of mine and the dealers time to have to ask for a quote for half a dozen tractors. I understand there are margins, regional differences, incentives... The company (any of them) should be able to put prices on their site that are a lot closer to what you pay than what they do. I've found my search particularly challenging because I'm 1.5 hours away from where my new property is located. Not all dealers seem to be willing to communicate via email. I've had several who never returned my email inquires either from the company site or their own sites. One dealer (not Mahindra) I contacted 3 times because it is particularly close to my new property. He never returned me email. Sale lost!

I have to say that the two dealers in my area were very good about answering e-mail and sending me quotes on several options with the financing options that were available (Specialty Tractor in Lancaster, OH and NCI Power Equip. in Newark, OH). Went with Specialty because they were a bit closer.
