Don't fill the oil filter unless the actual oil pump is fully primed!

Pull the oil filter and crank it over a bit to get oil to the filter housing, like I said before if you pull a vacuum on the outer ring of the oil filter housing you'll only crank it over just a few seconds, install the oil filter and good to go.

Oil flow is going from outer ring of housing through the oil filter and leaving the filer through the center threaded hole.

Two guys required and have something ready to kill the air to the intake if something gets out of hand.

Good luck, Fred

I get pulling the filter off, cranking until oil squirts out, but how would I put a vacuum around the outside ring of the filter housing?

Although tempted to try it now by myself, tomorrow is now the day when my help will be here. I have the air intake hose off ready to starve it out if we have a runaway.

Just use a shop vacuum over the filter housing. Yes it can make a mess.

You could cut off a clear plastic soda bottle as an adapter.

Regards

IT Lives! Once I figure out how to post a video from my phone, I will!. It runs just as smooth as it did when I bought it.

Time to put the cosmetics on now.

Awesome! Glad you took time to repair it right and take care of other issues along the way. Thanks much for sharing your journey, especially that first costly mistake.

I was thinking about installing a block heater in my L2800. I might just keep on thinking about it. Glad to hear it is running again.

I just added the last two quarts of oil. All that is left is to reinstall the driveshaft. I am still in disbelief that it is done. It definitely took a huge step forward since joining the two halves together last Tuesday.

Bring it on over. We'll have that engine rebuilt, um..... I mean block heater installed in time for winter!

So, will you leave the snow chains on for winter since it's coming up soon? :D

Glad that everything is back together and seems to be working well.
You did it the right way each and every time there was the temptation to take the easy / quick way out.
Your patience is inspiring.

You know.. I only got to use the tractor once with them on. They are coming off tonight as my son drives it out of the garage. I won't need them again until December..

Just a few fender bolts that did not want to go back into the deck. I also misplaced one of the bolts that holds the antifreeze overflow tank on. Hopefully I won't find anything "important" when I start picking up all of my tools!
