Ford aluminum truck beds are strong how?

Some people actually use their trucks for work. Even though the test may be a little dramatic, it makes a very good point. I would have never thought the bottom of the bed would be aluminum, that is truly foolish and a big mistake by Ford. I'll keep my 14 Chevy Silverado Crew Cab LTZ. Maybe that's why Ford is having $11k incentives to buy one of those POS.

I have never owned a rigid plastic bed liner. How would one of those liners held up with that sort of abuse?

Steve

I believe it would do well . Only problems with the bed liner is it rubs the paint off and then it rusts the bed out.

would have held up better than either bed. Maybe we should make beds out of plastic
Yup. make the bottom and side walls out of heavy gauge polyethylene, it would be indestructible.

I have a bed mat in my truck, thick rubber stuff to protect it. You could also use a stall mat

Must be that "Military grade" aluminum their ad agency touts. I've built millions of dollars of military projects and "military grade" goes from dead soft to ballistic depending upon the use. I wonder which "military grade" aluminum Ford used.

P.S. I own a Ford.

I think they used the "Budget Cut" Military Grade Aluminum.

I hereby vow to never haul anything in my Ford that is any harder or sharper than a bale of Cottonseed hulls!

Over dramatized advertising or whatever you want to call it, the steel bed is just better. Ford needs to get back to the drawing board and fast. The average working guy or girl works hard for the money they put up to get dependable vehicles. Call it what you will but the new F150 failed miserably. I wonder what the list price for that bucket of bolts is. Too much for it to be destroyed using it for what a truck should be designed to do. That truck is nothing more than a grocery getter.
