Yeah - I buy that. If those are real rocks what He-Man loaded them and stacked them like that?
I'm guessing by your comment you think he's lying huh

You guys are a HOOT with your responses. I'm a GM guy, so bias admitted up front. I like the "looks" of the GM Trucks over everything else. The Dodge have come around on looks, but when I was in Texas, they were the "cheap" trucks. The Toyota looks like a steroid hulking freak to me and is just plain ugly. As for the Fords, their new headlight scheme is just ugly as well, especially on the Super Duty's, they look like big sideways buck teeth.

Putting personal preference aside, the cast majority of truck buyers use them as glorified cars with occasional garage sale pickup on the weekend or helping a "friend" move.

We bought 32 acres in 2013 and I traded in (reluctantly) my 2008 Cadillac STS for a 2013 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 Z-71. While I'm sure I didn't work mine as hard as some of you have, it was definitely used as a truck and not a grocery getter. I just traded the 2013 in for a 2016 Silverado...love the new face-lift!

As to the original topic of the commercial...I think *most* people will get that it's a commercial and perhaps the blocks were dropped a bit too high, but the point was still made that the aluminum may not be as strong as the steel and the tool box drop was what spoke more to me.

For the comments about Ford doing this because of weight savings and Obama, etc., I don't disagree, BUT, I read an article that said HALF of their 2016 trucks don't meet the requirements for 2016. Their overall fleet average is safe, but it's a bit disconcerting that even though they shaved something like 800lbs of weight, their trucks didn't meet the requirements!

Ford tested submitted all configurations of their lineup to the IIHS for testing in '15. Name one other truck manufacturer to do that. The testing found that the regular and super cab configurations scored 'marginal' in the intrusion test. All other tests received a good rating for those configs. The super crew, which represents the majority of sales, got the top rating principally because of steel placed before the front wheels and towards the rest of the cab.

The 2016 extended cab and super cab both had top ratings. Let's deal with facts, not bias.

My apologies for the lack of coherency in the previous post. I've been drinking 😜. It's also a huge PITA to post from an iPhone. The keyboard covers 40% of the screen and the text doesn't scroll properly.

Yeah the TBN app doesn't have the scroll view parameters set up right. To help with this you can hit return a few times before typing and the move your curser back to the top and it'll then scroll and keep your reply on the screen while you type.

I apologize for not being clearer...I was actually referring their mileage average requirements, not safety.

Like a dog in the shade on a hot summer day!

If the one on the bottom right is a real rock it weighs 250#. Rocks that big are not easy to load and there isn't a mark of dust on the inside of that bed. How do you stack rocks that big all the way to the front so nice and neat - possibly with a telehandler with a bucket and thumb - a pretty odd combination. Plus any half ton with that much real rock would be dumping it out the back end it would be tipped so far. I have had my half ton Ford stacked with less than half that much rock and it was solidly down on the overloads. Mine is a regular cab and the rocks were stacked as much as possible to the front so their was a lot of weight on the front axle as well.
