Already covered, McDonald's anyone? Perhaps in your opinion McDonalds is the best burger. You may also think the Chinese imports that have flooded our country are because the quality is better, there certainly a lot of what others know to be crap products being imported by China that outsell domestic made products, at least the domestic manufacturers that are still in business.

The funny thing is all of this over a truck bed. There isn't enough major difference in any of the truck manufacturers to make any of them a poor decision.
McDonald's isn't selling based on quality. McDonald's sales model is based on speed and price.

Of course it is. It was implied that Ford sells more trucks than anyone else because of quality. Sales are not always function of quality, they can be but mostly the sales are for other reasons, speed and price being two of them.

Economics teaches us that, in the market place, "Value" or "Utility" wins. It's a combination of quality, cost, reliability, convenience, and some qualitative things like how it looks and feels. We can argue all day about quality and technical features but it's pretty clear Ford has been offering more "value" in trucks for quite a few years. The McDonalds arguments actually apply. We all know someplace that makes excellent burgers but they sell a fraction of what the McD down the street does. Why? Because the price and convenience advantage usually outweighs the taste difference.

Well said. I didn't buy a new F150 cause I was looking for my favorite flavor. I bought one because the INDEPENDENT testing, as well as my own real world experiences all told me that it was the tool for my tasks. No amount of money could have bought anything better suited for my tasks.

Yeah but there needs to be other opinions on this forum other than the ford fanatics saying the F150 is PERFECT.

You are right.....

The F150 is AWESOME.

"Perfect" is a little hard to achieve, even for Ford.

Every time I test drove the Eco boost I wasn't impressed and like I said my own real world experience ford products cost more to keep in service so much so they are at the end of my list when I buy new vehicles. This experience isn't from just personal vehicles I have a fleet of trucks for business. I used to bleed ford blue until they became more hassle then they were worth. I still love my classic fords I have a 71 f350 and a 1969 Mach 1 that I done a full concourse rotisserie restore. The Mach 1 get driven on most nice days during the spring and summer. The newer model fords for me have been a major headache and cost me money. So all you ford fanatics on this board can praise your choice all you want it won't change the numbers I have seen and experienced for myself.

And to address the ford sales more trucks. There are many reasons for this. One is owner loyalty there are many stories on this board one I read just a day or two ago about a guy that bought an F150 because that's what his dad had and they were good trucks. His experience was so bad it made him say he'll never own another ford. I was a ford man for a long time too because similar reasons my dad was when I was growing up. He still is he has had issue after issue with ford trucks all throughout the 2000's and he just turns a blind eye to it and buys another when it comes time for a new truck. I for one got tired of all the repetitive issues with ford trucks and their dealers not standing behind the product so I looked for a brand that would serve me better and so far they have. When that's no longer the case I will shop and research and decide again if another brand will serve me better.

Opposite experience here, my Fords are more reliable. That's why there are choices I guess. Lots of good brands these days.

Same. I've never really had an issue with any of my Fords and generally have owned each for 10 years, posting roughly 200,000 miles on each of them. Actually my only non-recall warranty services have been paint related, except on my new F150. The end of one of the threads in the stitched leather wrap on the steering wheel came untucked from under the leather and stuck out where my left pinky finger would rest on the wheel when holding it at the proper "10 & 2" positions. Had it not been a $50k truck, I would have just clipped it off and went on my way.

I think a lot of people's experiences have a lot to do with the service personnel at the various dealers, just like you see with tractors. A good/bad dealer can make/break the entire experience. Third party garages are worse. Generally they have brands they like to service, do well at, may even have special connections for lower cost parts, and overall cost their customers very little extra. If they don't care for a brand, they don't care if it costs their customer 3x as much to fix. Many look at it as "stupid customer bought a stupid choice for a vehicle and the high price for repairs is their cost for being stupid". That's why so many local garages have customers who love them, and ex-customers that will never return for anything.

Calling them the big three is just being politically correct. Ya wouldn't want to hurt the feelings of the assembly line workers that go out to get stoned and drunk during breaks. They may have to retreat to their safe place and get a good cry on over the fact the American company they spent 20 years working for is no longer American.
