2014 Mahindra 4025 4WD
At73 years of age I wanted to see if it felt any better to refer to myself as a newbie. It doesn't. Anyhow, I am 73, I would have been 74 but I was sick a year. I have a 2014 Mahindra 4025 4WD and I have a love hate relationship with it. When it starts, which is rarely, I can get my work done in no time. But, many times I go out to get some work done here on the farm and it just won't start. Doesn't click or anything. So, I call myself Mahindraweary (My name is JC Cooper). I had a Ford 3000 for 40+ years and I didn't have as much trouble with it as I've had with this New Mahindra in just 18 months.

Glad to be here and looking forward to learning something. But hurry, I don't have long left.

Hi. Welcome. Lots of help here.
Sounds like you may have a loose wire causing the starter issues. Check ground wires as well.

So if the engine does not crank, which I believe you are describing, what have to done so far to diagnose this problem.?

Do you own and understand how to use a voltmeter? Do you have an understanding of Ohm's law? Do you have an understanding of the scientific method as it relates to troubleshooting problems? As an example, "is the problem this way or that way in the circuit". How to cut the problem in half and exclude that half and continue troubleshooting the suspect half?

Let us know how you would like to proceed after answering these questions.

Yes, I own a volt/ohm meter but I've probably forgotten almost everything I knew. I'm going to start at the battery and put the red on the + and the black on the frame to see if I am getting the full 12 volts. Then I'm going to go to the starter and do the same thing and just trace whatever I can. What I have done so far, outside of cussing a lot, is to try (emphasis on try) to find all the safety switches. I think I found two, the pto being the only one I could get to so far, and it was plugged in tight. Other than that, I'm stumped.

Should I move this to the Mahindra forum? Thanks for your response. I do appreciate it.

Welcome to the forum, JC.

:welcome:

I'm going to move your thread over to the Mahindra section. It sounds like you might be spending some time in it.

welcome! not much help but a stupid question - how are your terminals ends connected to the battery. i have seen others here have some corrosion issues and i have cleaned mine a few times but when it went in for service i asked about this and possible under warranty - not sure yet about warranty but the head service guy said they were shot and not showing a full load on crank so he put new ones on. I never noticed an issues starting - but did notice rust really bad. so maybe????? i do not have meters and experienced no issues - but the guy had equipment and said there was some problems so figured I'd mention that - i also find it weird it would corrode in 1 1/2 yrs of owning it....

Thanks for the welcomes. I cleaned the battery terminals today. Didn't help. I'm moving over to the Mahindra forum so maybe I'll catch you there.

I was in Vietnam with an Aussie detachment. Those guys were a real hoot.
