Hey the air farce talked me into seven years, from 67 to 74 so you can't be that stupid. Those puddle pirates are another story.

I had a nice cushy job in downtown Frankfurt and I put in a transfer to Vietnam... Then I extended my stay an additional 6 months.. Tried to do it again so I could get out early but they were downsizing... [ RATS :) ]

Kubota specs their SUDT for their front axles as do some other manufacturers. Kubota also paints pretty much the whole drivetrain (minus the hood and operators platform).

Our first hitch was four but they gave me an early out at three if I reupped for another four which I did in Nam so I beat the taxes on the bonus. I spent the last three loaned out to DMA and spent that living out of a B4 bag. 3-4 months gone, two weeks home followed by another 3-4 months gone for all three years. It does real wonders for family life.

It's not an error on Mahindra's part. they mean it, use UTTO in the front just like the rear. Some makers suggest either. The Hurlimann information lists: S&L&H OT-1891 API GL4, SAE 10W-30 or AKROS Multi.

The service records demonstrate the gears do not suffer, and the seals return a longer service life. Modern designs do just fine with Universal fluids. (But use high pressure additives where required. that is part of those designs. )
Your personal experience is very small compared to the entire industrial world.

Buy the way, do a viscosity comparison between the fluids you might choose and compare to UTTO. The scales differ between fluid types, and there is not so much more "thickness" in the proper gear oil. (There are thick oils, but I bet there are few new compact tractors designed to use them)

Undies un bunched!

In that case the service manual is wrong. Maybe I'll just see what comes out of it and replace with same. I have both. This hydraulic fluid sure does seem to be a lot thinner than any gear lube I've ever seen.

Entire industrial world, really? How many cars and trucks are there out there compared to the sum total of all tractors of all sizes?

LOL I think we found a puddle pirate amongst us. Any swabbies around?

I worked with a couple ex swabbies.... There big claim to fame was how proud they were that they could walk around with a full cup of coffee and not spill any.. [[ :) ]]

Just a perspective.

The 1980's Isuzu Trooper II five speed manual transmission was lubed with 10W-30 engine oil. Those crunch boxes are very long lived.

ETA

Let's make a bet.

You go with whatever fluid suits your preference, I'll stick with UTTO . The one who's tractor axle fails due to lubrication quality treats the other to supper at a cheap family diner.

There! How is that ?!? ;-)

Yeah we got extended coffee training in basic too. Not spilling in an airplane is just as hard if not harder than on a pitching and rolling deck. I suppose the marines will say they just chew the beans and dispense with brewing it altogether.
