He's a German Drathaar. (Very close to the same dog as a German Wirehair)
I did a bit of research before I bought him. trying to find a dog that will hunt quail, ducks, not shed, (keep wife happy) is reasonably intelligent, and a good pet. I told the guy I bought him from, I was looking for a perfect dog. We will see how he does. How he turns out is mostly up to me. He's doing of for now. Supposed to "not shed" as much as a lab, or I would have gone that direction. I've seen a pointing lab work, that did pretty well.
He's going to be a bit bigger than the Setters I've always had. He's supposed to have a beard. My wife thinks he's a little on the ugly side. He's growing on her though.
Ah, the search for the perfect dog...He's right next to the pot of gold, by the end of the rainbow, where it comes down to the fountain of youth....Oh, and there's a leprechaun playing some sort of music there too!
I guess at the end of the day, most all of us feel we have (or sadly, have lost) the perfect dog.
Very cute pup you have there.
