MoPops.. what kind of dog is that?

He's a German Drathaar. (Very close to the same dog as a German Wirehair)
I did a bit of research before I bought him. trying to find a dog that will hunt quail, ducks, not shed, (keep wife happy) is reasonably intelligent, and a good pet. I told the guy I bought him from, I was looking for a perfect dog. We will see how he does. How he turns out is mostly up to me. He's doing of for now. Supposed to "not shed" as much as a lab, or I would have gone that direction. I've seen a pointing lab work, that did pretty well.
He's going to be a bit bigger than the Setters I've always had. He's supposed to have a beard. My wife thinks he's a little on the ugly side. He's growing on her though.

You are so right! My second setter was the best dog I've ever owned. Could hunt spooky pheasant, tight holding birds in timber, or run out in front of a jeep down in Texas. Once inside, he was a perfect gentleman. He let the kids crawl all over him (unless we just got back from hunting, then they left him alone.)
It's a roll of the dice. No doubt about it. I hope a little research will improve my odds a little bit. Who knows? Ha!

We took ownership 9 months ago of our first dachshund. First time we've ever had a house dog. Always had outside dogs. He's a cuddle buddy. We are nuts about him.
