Load sensing short

Hey guys, just posting this in case anyone else has similar issue. Was on property bush hogging with my 2555HST with EA 72" dual grapple and got caught in a 30 minute downpour. I kept working while getting poured on. A short time later, I could only move about 1-3mph and I noticed my load sensing button was slightly lit up. I pushed it in (to on position) and light got brighter. Tractor still had slow forward/reverse speed, but rpm and grapple and bush hog worked fine. Tried pressing and depressing load sensing button several times, but nothing changed. Disconnected the load sensing switch from wiring and problem solved. Called dealer and he said I sounds like a faulty switch (obviously) and that he would order a new one for me. Just FYI, when I pulled switch from wiring, the back of switch/harness was wet. I'm 99.9% sure the rain caused my issue. Hope this helps any future owners.

Good to know. I've settled on buying a 2555 HST. What do you think of yours so far? Any regrets on the choice?

I love it, but have some negative feedback for the manufacturer with regards to their placement to the hydraulic lines and filter as well as other lines and filters. I had to have a custom skid plate made to cover all the important bits underneath as I'm clearing some pretty heavy woods. Also the front tie rods are placed in front of the axles which exposes them when rolling over brush, trees, etc. I also has skids made for the front tie rods and the gas tank. And a few times, it wouldn't go all the way to pto speed. And I just blew a load sensing sensor due to rain I think, but other than those issues, I love it.

Good to hear. You are the one with all the protective plates. I saw that thread. Very cool. If I were going to be working in the woods I'd do the same. Nice to have access to a good fabricator. I'm going to have to look for one in my new place. So is the switch dead or can you dry it out? Depending on how the water got in you might be able to water proof it a bit (this one or the replacement). One of my hobbies is astrophotography. Dew can play havoc with electronics especially homemade. Waterproofing can become an art.

I doubt the switch is faulty but just the connector is wet. Drying it out should put things right. That is unless the switch too isn't weather proof. I noticed today that the connector for the switch on my PTO is a cheap and cheesy Amphenol connector and not a waterproof weather pack connector as it should be on a machine that is supposedly made to work out in the weather.

Okay, so I finally got around to it. I put the dry switch back in and everything worked just fine. The only thing I can think is the torrential downpour caused it to short out. All is well.

Maybe you should put some kinda boot on it to keep the problem from reoccurring. At least you saved the cost and hassle of changing the switch.
