We have them here too, been here for years. But as other have said the DNR will always lie about their presence at first. Of course everyone knows they are here now, just too many sightings to deny any more. I have seen their tracks but never actually seen one. Of course we see bobcats every once in a while, but we have cougers (the here kitty, kitty kind) bears and wild hogs.

Where in Indiana? There was a confirmed sighting a few years ago down in Greene Co. The population out in the Black Hills have apparently exploded and young cougars are spreading out. I dont know why DNR just cant confirm that the cats exist.

Here is the photo I was talking about.
The fern at the back of the cat to the fern at the front was a little over 3 feet apart. The ferns were 3 feet tall.

Thats just a light colored tabby stray.. about 14lbs. Nothing to worry about sir. There are no cougars here.. Move along.

I live in greene county indiana and their are confirmed sightings as stated above...they had excellent pictures and they looked huge.

I have never understood why they do this..Is it that they don't want to frighten people? I don't get it, but they ALL do it. They will lie for years and years, until they just cannot sustain the lie any longer.. All it does, is make DNR agencies look like liars and undermine their authority.

Live in North Central Indiana. We just cut the weeds down in the field. When I was mowing the actual lawn last night I think I saw a Cougar come out of the woods into the field and check things out. Then she went back in the woods.

We have been living in the property for about a year. My wife has always exclaimed how she does not see much in the way of raccoons, squirrels and the like around.

The Indiana DNR denies that Cougars live in Indiana....

What else would be that big and color? UFO's maybe?

The DNR does NOT deny that there are Cougars in Indiana. They just have NOT HAD ANY PROOF TO CONFIRM IT. They had no problem discussing the bear that was up here in north west Indiana last winter. It was seen multiple times by multiple people on multiple cameras, and it dumped multiple poop piles around multiple bird feeders, too. If and when someone actually captures one on camera, I'm sure they'll have no problems agreeing its a cougar.
