Pet horse "farms"?

Horses can be a hobby or a business. I never really heard someone claim a horse as a pet.

Farms around here are zoned ag. Usually a business venture.

Our county had to amen the ag exemption because too many people with the minimum 10 acres for cauv were buying a horse or 2 and claiming they had a farm. Now it’s required to provide proof of agricultural income for the exemption

The noise will go well with the smell ! Roosters, donkeys, pigs with their metal feed boxes, lots of good ideas ! Then when they put their place up for sale, post it here. Anyone on TBN would make a better neighbor !

Income or revenue? A lot of real farmers show little or no income, but they sell products and take in revenue.

I don't think counties in Texas can make that big of a change in the law. Here you have to show production. For most counties, horse production means foals.

Huge commercial properties with fortune 100 companies that I work on will have ag exemption claims for any of the acreage without buildings on them yet.

If the land is open, it will be hay
If the land has woods it will be bees

Property valued well over $1M/acre in the middle of a city, with property taxes less than $100/acre. Crazy to me.

But I think ag exemptions in general are over reaching. I don’t blame the huge companies for taking advantage of the tax law one bit.

Yeah. Last I heard here...they want 20 acres and ag proof of income. The 20 is going through the appeals zoning processes. Our big deal is pitting old farmers against old money.

Call local landscape companies to see if they will come get the pile for free.

I have no problem with the mennonite/amish using their horses on the roads because they are farming.

I do take issue to people riding their pet horses on the roads.

People have to clean up their dog sh*t out in public spaces but somehow it's ok for people to take their pet horses down the road and leave their sh*t everywhere?

Pet horse "farms" are no different than a dog kennel these days and shouldn't be allowed to be called farms...unless you raise the horses for meat production.
I fully agree, we live on a private road and have a horse boarding facility across the street. We get horse riders up and down our road on a regular basis and they **** on the road.. we then have the mess to deal with as they trot away. My dog dosent **** on their driveway.. so their pet horse shouldn't shot on my road. They should have the common courtesy to put ass bags on a horse if they are on someone else's property

If it's your road, you can control who's on it. I live near Amish and you learn how to drive around the droppings on the public roads.

I can’t be out there 24/7 policing who trespasses on the road. .. But I guess if my dog ***** on their walkway at home they will learn how to walk around it as well..

exactly, no pile, no complaint. Composting horse manure is not a difficult thing. Haul out is certainly an option too. There are people out there that wont spread manure because they think its bad for the horses.
Too much horse manure will increase the incidence of worms. Many years ago I dragged an 8' crosstie chained behind my TO 20 to spread piles.
