Post hole digger for a 1720D?

yep sure is. They do not take much power to operate one. After all think of those little two stoke augers you see folks use. those are basically weedeater engines. Granted the auger is not as big but you have way more torque and power than those have.

I have used one on my ym2000 and it would go all day long at barely above idle. The only thing is they don't like hard ground but a 50hp tractor would have the same problem there.

The best match to a digger would be the one designed for compact tractors. It has a shorter boom and shorter auger. Sometimes the longer standard auger has trouble clearing the hole because not enough travel on the tractor 2 point lift. Ken Sweet

I would agree. A CUT Cat-1 should have plenty of lift for a normal auger. Mostly the Yanmars around the 2000 and higher in numbers. The SCUT Cat-1 being closer to the ground and the lift arms shorter have a short travel distance, thus a small boom and less height auger would be ideal. On the bottom end of the SCUT tractors, the lift is CAT-0. Not sure if any augers exist for that.
