2 speed rear end that is automatically controlled as part of the 10 speed automatic.

At low speed and reverse, rear axle can be independently steered same way or opposite way as front wheels.

I would be real happy to see a Tacoma long box. Around here. landscapers, timber cutters, sheep ranchers all like low to the ground long box pickups. You can carry stuff in them and work out of them easily. The T100's didn't appeal to monster truck people but they were totally practical for reaching in over the side, or running a three or four wheeler into the back. Fact is, you can't hardly buy a standard cab long box anything anymore. In the foreign markets Toyota still offers such utilitarian pickups I think.

I would like - 300 cubic inch straight 6, 4-speed stick shift, manual windows, a suspension designed to haul a load, not ride like a cream puff, manual-lever activated 4WD and at a price not approaching the national debt.
I have all of the things you want in my 1957 IHC. :D

Bingo!

I had an International Harvester pickup back in the early 70s with the 2 speed rear, I always wondered why this solution wasn't reintroduced in to pickups.

Because most people are too lazy to use it, and rather spend their money on gizmos

2 speed rear end isnt exactly user friendly. A two speed powershift overdrive like the Laycock de Normanville J or P type used on Volvo M46 transmission would do nice though. With a control button on the gearstick for one hand shifting.

With more and more gears being added to automatic transmissions, why do you need two gears in the rear end?

Volvo used to have a 16 speed manual transmission in their highway trucks. Since automated transmissions they went back to 12 speed. Modern diesels have enough torque bandwidth to take a bigger step, accelerating from 0-30 so most transmissions take bigger steps at low speeds to accelerate with less power intertuption and narrow the ratios at higher speeds to make use of the optimum economic engine speed at cruise speeds.

None! Id like to see less standard crap on them, too many gadgets now.
