If you premiss is their moving to a better place, explain Californians and California business leaving. Your State has been bleeding population now for a decade. Most of Oregon, Washington, Idaho, Nevada, Arizona, and Montana are full of California refugees. Many in those States wished they'd stayed, voicing you destroyed your State please don't destroy ours with your California politics, you destroyed your home, you should have to stay and live it rather then move and destroy another place. The difference between haves and have nots is ugly. You are simple wrong in your assessment of the current situation you are living in the 1950's, your age explains your misconception. You are right Texas is full of California refugees, and many from other States too, most thirst for freedom. HS

What they lose in productive tax paying workers they more than make up for in illegal aliens and welfare recipients looking for a handout.

Sounds like all you know is dis-satisfied former Californians exploring moving to Texas. What you say is probably true of them. You must meet these types often. I literally have never in 70 years ever met anyone who would rather move to Texas. With 40 million people here your stereotypes are a very small proportion. I'm happy to see them go, let them take their dis-satisfaction to Texas where they might like it better.

As for Californians thinking many Americans wish they lived in California , well this is what we hear all the time, here. Because over 50% of California's population at any time in the last 166 years was born elsewhere and came here by intentional choice. Like your boasting about Texas, these new arrivals have a lot to say about why they made this decision.

Whatever, we're all Americans. Live and let live.

I pretty much agree, I am not a huge fan of Texas, worked all over the state, never quite got the feel of it. NCA, is probably the most beautiful area of the country. Yep, lot's of people, lots of government, lot's of taxes....and way too many restrictions on life.

If California goes down it will take many with it and reverberate around the world... last I heard the California economy is the 6th largest in world rankings... it also leads in Patents and Research...

It almost sounds like people are rooting for a California collapse of epic proportions?

Also, California is a Donor state in that the Feds receive far more in revenue than is returned...

Look at who he quotes - Breitbart and Conservative Review. Both are focused on stirring up divisive politics. We know California isn't going to crash, somebody just made that up to herd readers toward reading the ads that support those sites.

Plus maybe their objective is promote the gloom and doom that Trump says only he can save us from. Nonsense, ignore that, the California economy is stable.

If somebody wants to quote real economic statistics I think they will find California has better statistics than the US as a whole. In fact because we are so large we pull the overall US statics up! Your Donor State note illustrates this.

Somebody's not going to get paid, there is simply not enough money. The only question is... Who? HS

The reports of the imminent demise of California have been exaggerated... borrowing from Samuel Clemens...

Back in the 70's a very popular book was the Late Great State of California... then again many said there would be no Social Security for those retiring in the 1990's...

I'm not defending California... only pointing out the folly of outlandish claims that only serve to suck people in...

The Donor State is the perfect rebuttal to such statements...

I do see a lot of Californians cashing out their windfalls and taking that money to other States... know a few that simply cash out without reinvesting... which I think is foolish because money is only worth what it can be exchanged for and sitting in a CD is not an investment.

California dollars for better or worse are a driving force in neighboring states... especially Oregon, Nevada and Arizona... with Texas and Washington not far behind.

Amazingly hard to have a data-grounded conversation on economy here on TBN. Folks give more thought to changing fuel filters than to the leading issues of the day.

National and state jobs data referenced earlier make it clear that the two coasts provide most the growth for the country as a whole with the Texas gulf coast contributing. It has been that way for a long time. Hard to reconcile that with the view that California is a total mess and will implode any time now just you wait.

Two different worlds. Data-driven information based on scientific method, vs start with an opinion (often derogatory), then make up nonsense 'facts' to support the opinion. California mostly runs on the scientific side of the picture, that's why our economy exceeds the national average.
