Why didn't you get the factory GN?

We did get the factory prep except there are restrictions with the shorter box and crew...

Between several dump trailers, stock trailers, car trailers, PJ equipment trailer, utility trailers, boat trailers, camping trailers... all are bumper pull.

Why didn't you get the factory GN?
I had to take what I could find. I would have loved to get the factory G/N - 5th wheel prep package, (and it would have saved me a days work) but I couldn't find it on a truck with everything else I wanted and at the price that I paid for this one. I've installed and used the B&W before, and liked it. I've also ordered the factory camper plug and wiring harness for inside the bed. Got a set of factory matching floor mats coming too.

Update.
Well, I now have 1200 miles on the new truck. Power is still impressing me. Mileage is averaging around 18. Super quiet too. At highway speeds, all I can hear is the sound of the A/T tires on the road. :D
I haven't pulled anything heavier than my bass boat, but that will change in 3 weeks. We'll be doing a 1000 mile round trip with the fifth wheel camper. 31', 10,000# trailer going to the Ozarks. That should be a fair test.
I'll try to remember to post after the trip.

Have about 5,000 miles now and only added DEF once.

Mileage from display is between 12 and 13.

Major changes for the 2017 will be body/interior. It will still be a 6.7 just a few upgrades

Exactly. A slight bump in hp/torque, but it's still the same engine, and they've tested it at higher hp/torque figures extensively.

For about three years I was working with the Big-3 on a daily basis, and spent the most time at Ford. I helped them with something of a sensitive issue, and got a lot of inside access that really opened my eyes. At the time the current GT500 was being sold with 662hp. One time I was there they showed me a GT500 mule that had 750hp....they beat that thing to death and it was still running fine when it was sent to the crusher. I'm sure they've done something similar with the 6.7L diesel and set it up for much more hp/torque, and then beat it to death to see where the breaking point was.

5,000 miles isn't very many but if I had to nitpick one thing that I am not use to it would be the steering response over a bump in the road... very different than my other 4wd truck experience... even my old 96 F150 4wd.

We have a 2013 F550 Super Duty with the 6.7L package and I have described driving it as more herding it....vague steering over anything but really smooth roads (which we don't have in Michigan). The 2017 is supposed to address the many complaints about the front end of the current models...completely redesigned.

I have a 2012 350 CC short bed with 50k miles on it and leveling kit with 35" tires. Get roughly 13 city and in the low 20s on the highway. Great power, awesome towing and no issues. The only thing I don't care for is the small 26 gallon fuel tank.

I had an 2006 with a long bed and the bigger 36 gallon fuel tank which I loved more than I knew. I plan on purchasing a 50 gallon factory replacement tank in the near future. IMG_0953.JPG

^^^ Same fuel tank complaint my neighbor had with his GMC truck... I think his 3/4 suburban doesn't have this problem.

He tows a large 22' trailer up and down the state for work and stopping for fuel just made his day longer.
