Go back to your 'bota's :D

They all will bend going fast and catching an immovable object.
Doubt it is "thin and light". Just that something has to give.. being as the root didn't come loose. ;)

It comes down to how fast and how mobile. But yeah, I hear ya.

My cryptic post was more about top notch companies who trade on their name, but can't resist an "entry level" model not worthy of their reputation. Maybe it's just slapping paint and logos on another manufacturer's product. I think it has something to do with the executive bonus cycle being shorter than the corporate pedigree cycle. Cheap stuff at premium prices are irresistible to short sighted managements.

Mercedes used to have the aura of quality but now has the aura of "sell it before it's out of warranty".

I once bought a Starrett bench vise, one of the best names in precision tools, and the sliding handle bent during hand tightening.

None of the "Poor Man's Porsches" models ever survived long.

True, that this an "entry" level model to get "market share" of the low end competition. But the best outcome here is to give a shot at bending it back.. or just pony up and get a new deck for some more careful treatment. None are built to take out roots.. ;)

I hear ya too.. !!

I wouldn't buy a new mower and have another new mower sitting. If you that worried about the deck then replace it and keep the old deck for a spare. 800 sounds much better than 2500 or whatever the cost of the s240 is. Pound it straight then see how it works, if that doesn't work then get the new deck.

Yes beenthere, I agree with you.

A new deck is $750. I just made the first payment on this sucker ON FRIDAY.

I'm thinking about putting it in the back of the garage and keeping it as a parts tractor, replacing it with a new S240 that will be off-limits to anyone else but me. I have a huge mental block with spending another $800 (with tax) on something I just bought.

You have a mental block about spending $750 for a new deck, but are willing to buy a whole new S240 at roughly $2500? I don't understand the logic behind that.

I would get ride of the machine and obtain an old stock 2015 or older X310 or higher. Or the new 2016 line with the X370 or higher. All the lower machines use the scrawny K46 transaxle which will bite you in the behind shortly after warranty expires.

blahhh

Why would you want a low end , built as cheap as possible econo box sold in the " I don't care what it is as long as it's the cheapest " market.
The K46 transaxle is a weak short lived component . For a few more bucks why not have the more robust K57 ?

A piece of equipment like this deserves a nice pedestal to be mounted on and let the greene guys worship it
