When our lawn mower broke and wouldn't run, my wife kept hinting to me that I should get it fixed. But, somehow I always had something else to take care of first, the truck, the car, playing golf - always something more important to me.

Finally she thought of a clever way to make her point. When I arrived home one day, I found her seated in the tall grass, busily snipping away with a tiny pair of sewing scissors. I watched silently for a short time and then went into the house. I was gone only a minute, and when I came out again I handed her a toothbrush.

I said, "When you finish cutting the grass, you might as well sweep the driveway."

The doctors say I will walk again, but I will always have a limp.

Moral to this story : Marriage is a relationship in which one person is always right, and the other is the husband.

That's d@mn funny right there, I don't care who ya are! I about fell outta my chair when I read that

Just fix your mower and be really happy that she helps you with the lawn mowing chores. My wife never helps outside unless I ask her too. The grass can be a foot high and she would never go out and mow the lawn.

As for suggestions how to fix why not just have her mow over the same root in reverse. Problem solved.

Awhile back, I got myself an almost new 2015 2SS Camaro. The passenger side window has some water stains on it that I couldn't get off. I tried vinegar, I tried commercial products, nothing worked. I tried to scrape it off with a razor blade, and all I did was scratch the window and ruin it. Stupid move on my part. The window doesn't have water stains on it anymore because it's been replaced.

Point is, stuff happens. Replace and mowing deck and move on.

In crisis there is opportunity. You can bend the deck back or maybe find a used one to swap over but more important you can use this as a lesson to her on why you need a bigger or stronger or second tractor to prevent this type of thing from happening again.

You could explain it wasn't her fault and you just need to buy more of the "right" equipment to prevent a repeat. Sounds good to me.

Funny, I have take my cheap craftsman lots of placez I shouldn't. Pushed it many time out of mud holes, pulled it atleast once too. I have broke a mandrel. Ripped the chute guard off many times, rigged on.

Now watch I will kill it.

Bang the deck back into shape, then take the wife upstairs and bang her into shape Be sure to point out how "she owes you" :laughing:

to make sure deck is strait, weld a plate like 1/8"or 3/16 to make sure deck is strait and one level and that spindles are on same plane. cut even. take to welding shop to have done if you don't weld. less trouble if you don't have to dissemble again to tweak into alignment could have also bent where deck hangs from

Understand your frustration.

BUT - nobody hurt, can maybe be fixed

Life goes on.

This is an educational experience. DO NOT DISCOURAGE her from using the tractor. Unless she's like "hired help" that takes your equipment for a joyride the better she can use your equipment, the more she can help, if she wants to.

It's like doing the laundry. I don't like folding clothes, it hurts my hands (arthritis?) so occasionally I've put a bright red piece in with whites (like underwear where I don't care if they get dyed). Invariably I'm banned from doing laundry for a few years.

If she wrecks something again question her motives

But 10 years down the road when you ruin her new vacuum because you cleaned up something that clogged, you've got your "But Honey, remember when you ruined the mower deck?".
