take the spindle out and and turn over, and hammer it out back to the original shape,

decks get bent up and hammers pound them out,

i also would say turn deck over and pound it out, but what keeps that pounding out and that original damage from stretching the original sheet metal??? after doing body work for 35 years there a good chance its stretched. that means the spindles aren't going to be on the same plane and one side will cut angled different than another. also that pounding will weaken that already weak deck at the spindles. after a while those spindles will crack around the bolt holes and you will have to remove it again in the future and get the holes welded up or have a plate installed to reinforce the deck. go to a welding shop and ask for their advice and how much. grass will look like this eccagrated example / \ \ / \ / \

JD must be building some light decks these days. The JD's I've had in the past would support the mower weight if I hung up on a blade. That much damage after one occurrence means the deck has to be thin and light, so on the bright side it should be easy to pound back into shape.

That problem makes bending, clamping, or levering until it is straight look like a better idea than pounding.

I'd go buy a newer improved model , ya know one with a diesel engine,4 wheel drive, front end loader and a big whopping heavy duty deck . Then I'd say "honey be a little more careful these repairs are costly" !

I am still having trouble with the name - Sport - for a lawnmower. Obviously I am not a green paint guy but that just says don't wok me too hard.
