Truck rusting factors

That would be the one and only time that I would support an environmentalist
would be to ban road salt. Use sand and drive sensible for the road conditions .

I once lived in a place where sand was used instead of salt (W. MA). The problem with it was that it built
up in the storm drain system in town. It was surely better for the environment. Sand was super-cheap there.

All that salt washing into streams, rivers, and lakes can not be a good thing.

They add salt to the sand to keep the piles from freezing along with it's melting quality. Straight sand would be frozen rock hard in the winter temps.

You all need to research Krown Rust Control.

We have an awesome krown dealer in our area that I have been visiting for the last five years or so. My 08 Sierra started rusting badly on the underside immediately. I should have started rust proffing from the start. The brine they use on the roads is useless for safey but eats the crap out of your vehicle. A soupcan is Heavy duty compared to the panels on my GMC!

Anyone suspect rustproofing for causing issues with their power locks?

Back in the 80's I moved from NY to Colorado. I grew up driving in the crappy snow and was plenty used to it. Getting to Denver was amazing. Nothing but sand at least back then. Oh yea it was nice until you started seeing all the accidents. It's worse because people out there just wouldn't slow down and tailgating was a daily ritual speed never considered. After a couple years out there I came to the conclusion that there is probably a couple hundred more people still alive yearly as a result of the roads being better tended to and using road salt. It's just something you have to live with and take measures to minimize the damage.
