Box Blade options for the 110 tlb

It is up to you but I often used the fel and box blade as a landscape loader. Some of the people reading the forums might not be aware that you should not load the rear tires with a backhoe on the 110, just pointing that out. Since buying the 4520 cab I use it 90% of the time for box blade work.

Since ballast in the rear tires is not recommended for a 110tlb the recommended box bade weight is 1250 lbs and I would not want it to be much less.

I used a landscape rake on my 110 last summer 450 lbs est. I removed the fel bucket to be safe, I would not used the fel without the backhoe attached or a 1200 ballast.

I hear you guys loud and clear, I'm really finding this one a tough call. It's a lot of cash to spend and I really want to make the best decision once.
I'm struggling between the want and the economics of the purchase. My 110 doesn't have the factory SCV's so I'll be going the Fitrite route which is added cost. Then there's the ballast concern where the new unit's win hands down. I think I'm going to see if my dealer can price me the same frontier which was quoted from a non local dealer. Perhaps I can save a few hundred which would put the demo unit within $500 of the new. At that point I'd be a fool not to go new. I'll keep you guys posted and do appreciate the different perspectives.

Wish you had been able to find a used Gannon for $750 as one poster did recently. Brian can help you out with the hydraulics:thumbsup:

Good luck with your decision.

Yeah, tell me about it. I would love to find a score like that poster did. It seems these style box blades appear to be a rarity in my area.
Brain and I have gone back and forth about the scv's since I purchased the 110. I feel confident that I've come up with clean location to mount it.

I reached out to my local deere dealer to see if he could price me the Frontier 4278 thinking he'd be able to beat the price of the southern dealer due to the added shipping. To my surprise he's actually higher by $500 on the same blade than the southern guy. He did say since he doesn't carry the frontier line( Woods Dealer) that he would get good pricing. He also told me that all Gannon industrial models aren't Imatch compatible as has been documented here. So I may call a few other relatively local Frontier dealers to see if they can touch the southern guys pricing. The saga continunes AHHHHHHHH!

Well after all the back and forth on this one I've decided to go ahead and order the Frontier 4278 in yellow from Mutton's. I was really on the fence but this is hopefully a lifetime purchase and the added cost won't be significant in the long run. I should have it in 3 weeks. I'll be sure to post pics when the new toy arrives. Thank you all for you input!!!

I'm curious to see how this one works out as well.I have a Gannon 4 in 1 Front Bucket and it's really well built. This blade on a TLB should be a really sweet setup and get the most out of the blade. I went through this process last winter and ended up with a 1,400 pound blade from Bison after figuring them on a $ per pound basis.

I have operated my machine without the blade on the back and it certainly loses lots of stability but if you are careful you can still get some work done.

Why is that?
