Box Blade options for the 110 tlb

/ Box Blade options for the 110 tlb #41
I will compare them this evening and post back.

My bb1284 is 1260 lbs iirc. I looked at the video Eric posted and all I can say is after 10 years my rippers are all straight. One shank broke into soon after purchasing it and was replaced. No problems since then and I have pulled up roots 4 to 5 inches in diameter with mine. Are the shanks the same? I don't know.

I am not sure which new model is similar to the bb1284 with Imatch added but that is what I would recommend. If you are using this to make a living and using it often get the better tool it only hurts once.

I can't agree with this enough, can't always do it, but I sure try. ;)

The local dealer got back to me with the Gannon quote of $3250 plus tax. I asked him to confirm Imatch compatibility, so I appears the Frontier and the Gannon are about the same cost. But I'm pretty sure the Gannon isn't going to be Imatch so the Frontier will likely be the winner. I feel that the 84" is just a bit too big for the rocky soil here in New England. The 80" should be a good match. I'm not making a living with it but rather do smaller side jobs more for tractor time than anything else. I'm still really torn on the demo Frontier 72" it's roughly 1k cheaper and would cover the wheel width. What do you guys think about that?

I personally would go with the demo unit in your situation.

That's the way I'm leaning too since it's a pretty much brand new and available immediately, as the other two have about a month lead time. I'm of the same idea about the right tool for the right job and only want to do this once. For ballast reasons the new blades have me on the fence. I generally work smaller area's so I don't think the 8" is a show stopper but it's certainly less efficient, then you couple that with the ballast issue and I'm right back where I started:confused2:

Brian, all this got me thinking about the spool valve I've spoken with you about in the past.
I'd like to install the 4 spool setup very similar to Diesel shadow's install. I was wondering if the spool's can accommodate 1/2 Pioneer AG coupler's?
I'm assuming that's what the box blades would have on them? I'd like to plumb it so the PB loop hose that gets connected to the hoe valve bank( this hose would be looped back to the tractor with the hoe disconnected) plugs into a Pioneer QC on the spool valve and then a return hose from the spool(threaded at the spool and 1/2 QC to the tractor) would complete the loop. Is this doable?

Yes, I'm working on a system with a guy up in Canada right now. He's adding 4 spools for the rear and 2 for 3 & 4 functions on the loader. We are not using cheap valves though. I'll get back to you. Best to e-mail me at Fit Rite.

I saw a close up photo of a used Gannon and it looked as though the scarifiers were cast, whereas the Frontier scarifiers are stamped or cut out. Seems to me I measured one of my scarifiers hoping to find a Gannon to measure and compare. I didn't think I was doing anything out of the ordinary ripping roots out with it.

Frontier box blades are made by Woods Gannon as I understand. My box blade is a Frontier BB1284 and the ripper shanks do appear to be cast.

Since ballast in the rear tires is not recommended for a 110tlb the recommended box bade weight is 1250 lbs and I would not want it to be much less.

If you go by that logic you'd never be able to run any other 3 pt attachment that didn't make weight, I will generally always keep the hoe on for loader work.
