Well, only normal if the shift stick is in a gear regardless of what the PowerShift selector is set at. If the shift stick is in N and the noise is still happening, I would have a concern.

When the clutch pedal is "not pressed" and the shift stick is in N and the PowerShift is in any selector or RN123, then YES, there is a whirling sound near your feet. This is normal.

Next to the PTO output shaft is a three bolt pattern cover cap. You will need a bucket over 8-quarts to hold any draining fluid. The filter is about 11-inches or so long. It comes out like a cylinder tube. The filter membrane is olefin type that only allows one direction flow. Thus, if it only needs to be cleaned with brake cleaner, spray the outside to soak it, let gravity pull it down to a bucket and with a tooth brush in hand lightly scrub it. Use a soft bristle type of tooth brush. I would advice to wear neoprene kitchen gloves as this is very messy and slippery.

I've actually had great success with the SAE-30 like the owners manual states to use with the 3T80 Yanmar engine. The SAE-30 makes starting easier with less stress on the starter and the engine cranks over better. Even in the colder temps SAE-30 does well. Besides, the cost of SAE-30 is better than 15W40.

BTW, My oil level on the YM2610 is normal. When the tractor is in gear for the stick and the PowerShift is in neutral, there is a sound emitted. When the gear stick is in neutral and the PS is in any selection, the sound is not there. This is normal operation. The sound is just noticeable.

How would 30 weight oil start easier than 15weight oil or 15w30?

And curious too. I think Rotella 15w40 is the same as 30wt ( do they make a 30wt rotella?) Is the 30wt your using diesel rated?

Yep. Rural King brand for farm and tractor SAE-30.

I'm not comparing 15W30 to SAE-30. I'm comparing SAE-30 to 15W40.

How would you know? Have you ever used 15W30? And if so, where in the world would someone get the stuff locally at a major parts store or Walmart?

I think Either Castrol or dello makes a diesel 10w30, I saw it at walmart.

And I know 15w40 oil is thinner at resting temp call it 90F outside or call it 60F outside 15w 40 will be thinner at both temps than sae30?

15w40 is 15 weight oil on cold start, it is 40w viscosity at operating temp. 30 weight oil is 30 weight oil on cold start or at temp, yes it thins out at temp but all oils do this and is part of SAE viscosity.

You mis-quoted, we were talking about 15W30, not 10W30 that is normally used in regular gas engine vehicles.

As for 15W30, it's rather a newer configuration. Chevron holds the patent on it. Guess if you want to use it, pay the premium price.

No I use 10W30 in cold weather and 15W40 in the warmer weather but 15W is only going to be fractionally thicker cold than a 10W. I was talking about straight SAE oils and not mixes. Straight 30W will be harder on batteries and starters in cold weather no question as it is 30W hot or cold. I have used a 20W60 in an old Falcon I had once and it wouldn't pick up the oil for about 10 seconds in the cold but I had to use it because it burnt so much with thinner oils.
