Single tine ripper

Hi all
I'm looking to bury some electrical cable in the ground from my house to an out building for my tractor I would like to build a single tine ripper that will Dig down 24 inches. I'm knew to tractors and implements so I really don't know how to build this, any help would be very much appreciated thanks.

You can purchase a real ripper, use it , then sell it rather than hack away at one in the shop.

DO you have something bigger to pull it with than your b series kubota? I think you could build a much stronger one that the TSC junk but starting with their design and improving it would be a good start. a cable reel with a feeder tube would be required to be added.

Is there a place online that sells a good ripper some of the places that I looked really thin metal and don't really look like the quality but I'm not sure.

I never thought The tractor would be too small is this what you're thinking, can you tell me what TSC stands for and I would look at their design I definitely like the idea of the cable real with feeder tube

I'm not even sure what your soil conditions are but I would be leery of using my L3400 kubota to try and get 24" deep. I wouldn't hesitate with my 80HP 4wd JD though. If you have sandy or loose soil it MIGHT do it. Clay or somewhat rocky and not a chance. TSC=Tractor Supply Company

Thanks for the reply conditions are Sandy with some gravel thinking 24 inches will be too deep I looked at tractor supply Company and do like their design simplicity but would like to make it more rugged.

Well you may get farther along that I thought but I wouldn't have a prayer in clay.

I would just use that as a starting point. I also wouldn't rely just on a weld to hold onto the side of the tube. If you can get the metal to push into the cross bar by putting the vertical portion in front of the cross bar it will be much stronger. If you want to add gusset plates or something then thats different. If you have a welder and a way to cut steel, I think it could be a fun project.

If you search on here for "subsoiler" you will find a lot of threads regarding running cable like you are trying to do. Some are home made and others are just store bought ones.
