Trading my New Holland in for a Mahindra.

Have you heard of any big problems with the Workmasters ? I'm going to check one out tomorrow.

Local dealer has sold 9 and none have been returned for warranty work. The only issue that I have is that the dipstick is located behind the loader mount brackets. Access requires reaching behind the bracket to get it pulled. Other than that I have 40 hours and no problems thus far. The turning radius is rather large due to planetary front drives. Also the fuel filler cap is located on top of the tractor so fill ups require smaller cans unless you are strong as a gorilla. Mine came with R4's and 1 standard rear remote. I added a top and heavy duty grill guard. The shuttle is excellent and the synchronized transmission is great. To change from low to high requires you to stop. It is a Tier 4B engine with EGR and catalytic converter. No DPF, urea, or regens to deal with. Ship weight is around 5K. The dealer added methanol and water to the rears. IMHO it is a lot of tractor for the money.

I looked at a Kubota L3901, the dealer never mentioned the Regen. The Mahindra dealer told me about it. That sounds like a pain. Thank you for all the info, nice to hear from an owner.

Seems like lots of people have problems with the Mahindra as there is almost always a thread about some sort of problem or the dealer not covering work under warranty.

I'm sure it will cost a little more up front but you might be better off in the long run sticking with a New Holland.

There was a owner of both a Mahindra and Kubota who had a thread recently that outlined the differences. The Mahindra had cheaper components such as the loader valve and there was quite a bit of corrosion for a tractor that had been shedded.

To me is seems like Mahindra is made to be the cheapest (LS, Branson, Kioti, Montana, etc) where New Holland is actually competing to be the best (JD, Massey, Challenger, etc).

That is not the case with the New Hollands I looked at. The NH was uber tinny and not very nice compared to the Mahindras on the very same lot parked just feet away. The NH was not nearly as solid in build either. I was looking at about the same HP machines and the Mahindras were the 1500's. The NH had the regen thing going on also which I was looking to avoid.

Buy the brand that has good or better dealer support near you. For me, that was Mahindra. I've never regretted that decision. If you have a problem....your dealer is priceless.
Every brand has lemons. Some brands have models (series) that keep turning up lemons....or at least a higher percentage of major problems.

Could not agree more. My dealer sells Mahindra, New Holland, and Kubota. They were "lucky" when the local Kubota / Massey dealership closed they added them to their Mahindra and New Holland lines.

I'm going to look at the Workmaster Monday. At 64 years old probably my last tractor. The TC 30 is a good tractor, never a problem but it takes me 20 hours to mow all my fields. Time to make life easier here.

Well I turn 57 in September and I told my wife that I wanted 1 new tractor in my lifetime. Dad sold Allis Chalmers back years ago and we always had older stuff he bought at sales. It's pretty bad when your tractor is worth more than the vehicles you drive to work. My priorities are correct.
