Whatt the (blleep) is wrong with today's kids?

We take adult visitors out to do all the things they came to do and they spend the entire time immersed in their phones sharing with the internets.
It's awkward. It's weird.
I think the digital age is something that we need to mature to. Life is happening around you, not on facebook.

My cousin and his friends have a rule when going out to eat. All phones go in a pile on the table and the first one to take theirs out buys dinner for the rest.

I like my cell phone and particularly texting to keep in touch with my kids and wife. And I like having a weather radar at my disposal. And a camera 24/7. And google for the times I need/want to look stuff up. But I don't have time or desire for games or entertainment on mobile devices.

I have my smart phone on me 24/7. It is my office in my hands. I go out, jump on the tractor, play away the afternoon, and every 30 minutes or so, I take it out to check emails, make phone calls, etc, all right there in the middle of the woods. I love it, otherwise I'd be chained to my desk.

I NEVER take my phone into a retaurant and rarely out of the truck at all when on jobs, or going into stores. What for? I watch people, and think it's so sad. I see so many couples not talking, just fixated on each of their devices.

Somewhere I saw a dining table that opens up. Everyone is expected to put their devices inside, then set the table and eat.

How big of a data plan do you have? I only have 1 G of data a month. That's just enough to make me not use it whenever I'm away from home.

They of course had discipline, morals, and shame, so their kids weren't like that. It wasn't perfect either.
But, it sure seemed better than this.

We took our second oldest grandkid (10 years old) to three art festivals today...they had crafts to view, rides, etc.and a multitude of other things to see and do but the kid wanted to participate in nothing of interest except stare at the screen of her Ipod the whole time. When we got home she did not want to play outside nor ride her bike nor swim in our pool...just stare at her Ipod or play with my wife's Ipad....I had to tell her to thank her grandma for what we experienced today but he was reluctant to do that. It truthfully makes me sad how little interest today's children have in anything unless they view it on a screen.

Am I the only one here who feels the same way? BTW I ABSOLUTELY HATE online gaming and the related stuff which is a huge time waster.

Forgive me if I say something already said, I didn't read the whole thread. I feel the same as you. When I was a kid, me and my friends would take off on our bikes in the morning and come back at dinner time. Watch and see what happens, these kids are going to be fat with neck and back problems. Sorry if it sounds harsh, it's just my opinion.
