Why do people think it's okay to call/text late?

Just curious if you include a line in your ads requesting no calls, texts etc..after a certain time...?

I don't think so, we live in a very secluded place and I'd rather not have strangers coming to my place to check out stuff for sale. If one of those strangers decided they like my other stuff they could help themselves to whatever they like when I'm gone and no one would see them. I think having CL shoppers on my property would greatly increase my chances of being robbed or worse. My wife and four year old are home alone everyday back here in the woods too.

Agree 100%. I recently took out some ovens and a friend suggested I sell them on CL for $50. I said no thanks, they go to recycle rather than having someone that needs to buy ovens for $50 on my property. No CL flakes on my property, thank you.

I keep my phone on vibrate. The only way I would know if you text me at 11:59 is if I was up anyway.

I only have one phone. No land line. I never turn my phone off, or set to vibrate. Never know when there is gonna be a family emergency, an issue at the apartment, or an issue at work....where the nature of my job, technically I amon call 24/7. Also why I don't like the features of the phone that would block everyone not in a contact list. I don't have all of the 400 people I work with...that could potentially call me any time of the night...programmed in my phone. Nor all the ems services in the area in case there is a family emergency, nor all the family/relatives of my tenants, or law enforcement.

I'd rather put up with an occasional idiot that has no common decency than block all after hours calls.

I am thick skinned meaning I can take about whatever criticism TBN members want to dish out. Ain't gonna hurt my feelings. But yes I am still upset that some idiot thinks it's okay to text me at midnight inquiring about a business service I offer. Just plain stupid and rude.

And then, after that, trying to haggle with me on price because your "buddy" can do it for less, and never give me the address so I can even give a firm quote???? Stupid I think is a gross understatement

Maybe you should quit tractor work and stick to your day job. There's always going to be people that like to waste your time and low ball you.

Totally understand, I never turn mine off either. Carry over from when I was on the escalation call list for 4 states. They should use email if they want to make contact after hours. On the other hand, how serious are they if they text during the night because they "might forget" by morning? Not very I would guess.

Really, if you're on call (and I understand that as I was on call 24/7 for about 25 years), you should use an app like google voice for a 2nd number for your craigs list ads. Then you'd have no problems at all.

I understand what youre saying, and yes, that would work.

All I am saying is it shouldn't come to that. I should not have to set up another line, because some moron decided to text at midnight....then get all pi$$y and act like it was my fault.

I was in contact with someone local that was selling an antique car listed on Hemmings.

They e-mailed and said I should call them as they were available to meet at 9 AM Saturday and left their address and phone number.

I got in at 10:30 pm and decided to wait to 7am to call...

Called at 7 AM and said since they didn't hear from me yesterday they were showing to someone else at 9 and would let me know...

NOT calling at 10:30 pm cost me the car... the first person to see it bought it.

I was told I should have at least sent a text no matter how late... I don't text and cell coverage in spotty here at best...

Sometimes you can't win... although I need car number 51 like a hole in the head.

If you have an iPhone or Android there is a privacy setting where you can limit incoming calls to certain hours and/or allow specific numbers to have 24/7 access. Only way to deal with unwanted or wrong numbers after hours without just shutting off your phone.

You likely already knew this and just wanted to vent about inconsiderate people in which case I feel your pain. :(

Last weekend I agreed to meet someone at 5pm, at 5:10 I called him and asked where he was, assured he was in route and would be there in 5-minutes I said I would wait. At 5:30 I left and called him to tell him forget it and unsurprisingly he couldn't understand.

Any idiot can be late
Any considerate person can be early
The truly gifted are always right on time

I have a brother who was/is ALWAYS late to family gatherings. If a meal is planned at 6pm we would tell him it was at 5pm. Then he caught on and was late again. Finally we just accepted it.
