Why do people think it's okay to call/text late?

Well..... I'm retired and the only emergency call I might receive would be from my son. He can "catch" me by email because its a lot more reliable than my cell phone. Cell phone service out here is 1-2 bars at best.

My cell phone is off ALL the time except when I attempt to make a call. I try to remember to turn it on for five minuets or so every evening to see if anybody left a message worth replying to. I grew up during the era when cell phones weren't even a distant thought and I managed to survive just fine - thank you.

As has been stated - if its so dam important to contact me - contact the State Police, they can come out and advise.

For business like that I would never post my actual cell number. Google has a service called google voice. You can get a phone number from them for free. It has texting capacity as well. So you can use that as your business number. The service even has a capacity to NOT forward to your phone at certain times. So that way all the random clients get the google number. It will stop sending you texts/calls at whatever time you specify. Your family/friends get the actual cell number and you can leave the phone on.

That all said, no offense, but you are in business to make money. Clients come to you when they come to you. If you have the kind of dough where you don't really need the clients good for you. Me, I'll always take a new client.

I get the same thing. Now I only use email for CL till I know the person is seriously interested then give them my number.
Emails in the middle of the night are a pain as well.

Last weekend I agreed to meet someone at 5pm, at 5:10 I called him and asked where he was, assured he was in route and would be there in 5-minutes I said I would wait. At 5:30 I left and called him to tell him forget it and unsurprisingly he couldn't understand.

Any idiot can be late
Any considerate person can be early
The truly gifted are always right on time
This does seem to be the case with most younger folks now days. They think nothing of making an appoint and either not showing up or coming hours late. It doesn't seem to bother them either. My kids are that way, rarely do they do what they plan if something better comes along. Drives me bonkers, so I do just like you. If they don't show up for appointed time or earlier, I just leave or do something else. If they show up hours late, too bad, I am already gone or doing something else. That doesn't bother them either.

As far as cell phones, mine stays on the desk next to the charger until I go out. It is for my use, not others. If I have to leave a number for a business like repair shops to call, I give them the wife's number. Her phone is surgically implanted on her ear so it is on 24-7.

That's why I never sell ANYTHING! I can't deal with the morons. My last 2 used vehicles went to the junkyard just so I wouldn't have to list them. I probably lost a thousand dollars but it was worth it to me.

Kevin

Cut nose off to spite face?.....but you sure showed them!

Or just don't respond till in the morning?

I use the privacy settings on my I-phone. Texts and calls come through silent and don't light up the display after 10pm until 7am. Phone sits in the living room on the charger at night. Kids and family know to call the house phone if it's an emergency. House phone number doesn't get listed for anything.

I just don't understand some people.

I advertise my bushhogging by a few different means, including Craigslist....which by far brings me the most business, but also brings me the most inconsiderate people.

I got a text at 11:59 PM reference my c-list ad (that I keep updated every week) asking if I'm still doing that.

I simply replied yes, but do you realize what time it is:mur:

They replied back with an attitude that yes they knew the time, and did t want to forget by morning, and that I didn't have to respond that I could ha e waited til morning.

This kinda stuff irritates me. This is not the first time. I bet once a week I get a call or text between 10 and midnight.

Seriously people....this isn't Facebook messages or e-mails. Yes, texts actually cause my phone to make noise. Luckily, I work night shift.

When it comes to anything like this, my rule is I don't call anyone before 8 in the morning or after 9 in the evening.

It's clear this guy must me staying up late on a Friday night. Maybe I should have waited til morning and replied at 6am

I agree with you!
Everyone makes good points, but I liked the old school. I like manners and respect.

I have told everyone I know to not call after 9pm unless they see my house on fire. If their house is on fire I will read about it in the morning.
