I use an independent agent. He is able to shop rates from multiple companies. I have been with AAA, Safeco (librerty mutual).. He has me at this time with met life..

From time to time ,my independent agent will check to see if any of the companies he carries is less than the one I have at the time. He is only checking with the few companies he represents, not the marketplace
If they are, he will switch me. I have been changed several times .. Most companies pay higher commissions for "new business" than they do for "renewals"

There is no reason to stay with an insurance company for as long as you have. I'm quite sure there is an independent out there that can save you some cash ! Just be aware, not all independents carry the same insurance companies.

Been with State Farm for 53 years.....accident free for that time too. BUT 6 months ago did a stupid thing in a car wash and it resulted in a claim to repair the car wash. I had minor black fender trim messed up, and I fixed my self. The claim was about $1000.

As with any insurance...that has a premium impact....but the 53 years with them means...NOTHING. So I've decided I will shop for insurance. Told them that too. They said be sure...any insurance is underwrited so you don't have large increases in later years. Not sure I understand that.

SO....what insurance is everyone using?

Nationwide. Cars and Homes. 35 Years.

I am.. I'm not loyal to any one company. If there's a less expensive rate out there, you can bet I would have it. Well, except for the low rated stuff . I also shopped for my umbrella policy. I couldn't beat his price on it either.

I pay home by the yr in full, and vehicles every 6 months in full. Most companies charge xtra making drafts ,or payments vs paying in full

Being loyal to an Insurance Company can be costly. It called rate creep or "price optimized".

How loyal insurance customers can pay higher rates - CBS News
I requested quotes last year from 3 different companies and most were much lower than my current carrier (AmFam). When I requested a policy review and showed my agent the quotes all of the sudden contacts from the competing companies stopped...guessing they all read that CBS News story and probably "whisper" to each other now. Everybody involved had a local agent so I guess it's time to check those that don't have a local presence. I don't file claims so my need for a local agent is zip/zero/nada.
