I found the OEM filters were about the same price or less than xreffed filters

Not even close for me. The local Mahindra dealer (half hour away) was over triple the price. Online was about double including shipping. Not only is it nice to pay a lot less, but it's really nice to be able to drive 2 miles and have a quality filter in my hands instantly.
