Transmissions were mentioned , as well as Tuners .
Having just rebuilt my son's 68rfe in his 2007 ram 2500 with the 6.7 cummins , something I learned from several local transmission shops was that None of the transmissions in any brand truck , can tolerate the added H.P. when using a tuner . Now with that said , I am Not saying that a tuner is Bad , just that per the shop guys I talked to , One has to use caution when using a tuner and added H.P. / turning it up . The 68rfe is basically a series of clutch plates of various sizes crammed into a case and really is quite simple to rebuild . Other than spending about and hour cutting out some metal and welding it together to make a sprag spring compressor , ( I was to cheap to spend $130 to buy 1 ) , I had it back together in 1 afternoon once I had ALL the correct parts .
In a regular rebuild , One does even need to mess with the sprag spring , But this was not a normal rebuild as My son had disassembled the transmission while I was working  So I ended up not only building a tool to reassemble , but spent not 1 , not 2 , But 3 times , sorting the various snap type rings by thickness , size that hold every thing together . Oh and not to mention that the Dodge dealer who the rebuild kit was ordered from , sent the wrong kit the first time

( Found that out pretty quickly since the 68rfe has multiple single sided plates and there was none in first kit ) . My son kept moving every thing from 1 side of the shop to the other , so every time I came home and went to work on it , I had to sort through the crap again . Oh and did I mention that my son also bunged up a bearing / bushing in 1 of the components , that if purchased through Dodge , One has to buy the entire component , ( just the housing , not everything inside it ) , for $260 . So fingers did a internet search and found a place in West Sacramento that made the entire bearing / bushing kit for several transmissions including the 68rfe . Cost for the kit for a 68rfe = $104 which included shipping . So his transmission also has new bushings .
I am actually looking at a 2016 ram 3500 to trade in my 2006 ram 2500 with hemi for . The extra tow capacity and power to pull my big tex dump trailer will help a lot when I have to climb the hill from the valley to my house . The one I am looking at has the Aisin transmission , which seems to get good reviews ??
I have no plans to add a tuner or delete anything , simply stock , at least for the duration of warranty .
