I did not say or imply it had anything to do with the parts shortage. It seems like every manufacturer that has a supplier as a competitor ends up being more expensive for the same/ similar tractor. I think rebranding a whole or near whole tractor is a strange way to go about the business. I'd just buy a TYM. I'd just buy a LS. I'd just buy a Yanmar.

No, you buy the Mahindra because you want their warrenty, service, and parts reliabiliy... Oh wait, nevermind! Lol!
..................

The fact that the OP, who relies on the tractor to make a living, is considering another one (WITH the same dealer no less) makes me think there is a lot more to this story we have not heard....

Dave,
I doubt they're messing with them from a competitor standpoint, but if they have a model that uses a common part, their supply chain would likely get first fill. Mahindra is taking a beating on stuff they aren't producing in house. How many of these problem children are coming out of the homeland? Very few.

I see what you are saying. By far the largest supply of TYM parts in the USA, by a huge margin, is at MUSA HQ in Texas. TYM sells very few tractors in the USA. As far as your "problem children" question, I'm not sure if you are referring to problematic tractors or the problem of parts supply. Honestly, we rarely have a parts problem from Mahindra regardless of where they source the part. But every so many years there is a strike at a port by dock workers, or like now we have the Hanjin deal and that hits all manufacturers. I'm currently waiting for tractors that are sitting on a ship off the coast and have been for weeks.

The solution...let's build stuff from the ground up in the USA! But in the tractor world, not much in the way of compact or utility tractors are actually made in the USA. Assembled yes, made from components that are manufactured here - not many. So we rely on international shipping and we have issues at times.

In this case, I still think the big issue was communication. You can't ignore customers, even if they are ticked off. And remember, we have not heard the other side of the story, if there is one.

It's been 6 days since the last OP post...

My guess is all is well.

The tractors. Most, if not all, the tractors we're reading about on these pages didn't come out of India, they came out of Korea or Japan. Letting your reputation swing on contracted units is dicey. I agree that the communication issue is as big as the actual problems.

However, like most units built in India, my 4025 is a beast. I treat it rough, understanding that I need to do more than the norm for maintenance and repairs. And breakage will likely be on me, not it. It has not let me down, outside the known leaking fuel lines and one Ansung line leaking.

I guess you missed the part where he didn't buy a Mahindra, but a TYM with Mahindra stickers.

BTW, my warrenty (SIC) has been just fine, the one time I used it.

The Korean and Japanese units can be beasts as well
At least my cracker brother to the Coyote is!

Not a peep from the OP. That's got to be either real good or real bad.

Thanks for pointing out my misspelling. Perhaps you could help me with another spelling quandary; is 'fan boy' one word or two? I'm thinking it's hyphenated.

I once had a settlement and as part I had to agree NOT to post about it on Social Media...

This thought has crossed my mind in the absence of progress posts...

Wouldn't know, sorry. Nothing I own is orange.
