Just because things are under warranty, doesn't mean that someone, (or that system of things) can fix it.

I will never forget when I got a bad tank of fuel in my 94 Dakota. I was calling different dealerships trying to find out where the filter was. I was getting all kinds of answers, except the right one. In the tank, integral with the pump and sender. The bad tank of fuel cost me dearly! More then a ten dollar filter that I could have changed at the side of the road (in winter)!

I on the other hand have no desire to pull the manual choke and pump the throttle, after adjusting the points of course.

Nothing mechanical makes me long for the "Good Ole Days".

I never saw a diesel with points or choke, and I've never had to pump the throttle on any of my diesel tractors either...

NONE of my tractors require a puter to run either...just the way I like it!

You might be running old stuff there...I have a friend with a newer Bobcat that needs to be trucked to the dealer for periodic "software updates". Same for a different friend that bought a Kubota tractor. Most of this is probably our EPA and related to emissions and not related to the performance of the machines.

My bobcat side by side has a choke. I was afraid it might be a problem for my wife but none of us have had an issue. The kids handle it fine also.

That would be a "gas" bobcat I think. Diesel is a different matter. I own a lot of "gas" things but never owned a diesel anything other than I have read some stuff...might be wrong but I don't think you ever need a "choke" on diesel fuel delivery...high compression, metered fuel through injectors instead of a carb (i.e. no need for a choke).

Boy,,,, my metaphor started a new debate!!!! I was just making a point (pun intended) about going back to the pre-computer days. I bought a new pickup in 1977, it had a computer, no points. Yep, it was known to be an issue and once in a while you'd hear of someone having to replace the computer. But it beat the snot out of having to adjust points.

To the diesel guys, I'm with ya. Of all the engines I own, most by far are diesel. Some with computers, some without. I was simply saying while we complain when computers don't work, we are sure quiet, fat and happy when they do. An example would be, everyone raise their hand that are reading this without a computer????

I have no issue with a belt drive, if it's cheap and easy to replace. The Mule is unfortunately neither.

I persoanlly don't think my belt (Pro FXT) is very expensive or that bad to change out- for $75 I have a new one shipped to the house and can be off and running if I ever had a problem (never had the slightest issue)
May depend on the model Mule you are referring to as there are quite a few over the years (the late 80's to now)
