A lot of this kind of stuff just might be due to the lack of adequate sleep. You'd be amazed at the difference in your ability to perform if you've slept a good eight hours versus even only five! (Check out the research on this.)
Yeah well that's easier said than done when you get older too. It's been at least a year since I've managed to sleep eight hours in a single stretch. I manage to get by with all few hours at night and afternoon naps but I'm usually up and scratching around as early as 3AM and can't remember sleeping anywhere past 6AM unless I was up earlier at 3 or 4.
