What are the reasons for NOT using Cruise Control?

Maybe this belongs in a different thread, but, what traffic infraction do most people commit in your area? I think many are going to answer "not following the speed limit" but even though 99% of people may speed in my area, there is one law that I never see people observing.

This is the right turn on red law. Cars are supposed to come to a complete stop on a red light, check to make sure there is no oncoming traffic and then proceed to make their right turn. I have not seen anyone make a complete stop in years unless there was heavy traffic coming and they were unable to go. But to make a complete stop when there is no traffic is completely ignored here. If you do make a complete stop, you will hear a chorus of horns honking behind you and people yelling and flipping you off.

Is this as common in your area?

If you ever drive in NY you learn quick not to signal a lane change. The SOB in the other lane will speed up to keep you from getting in. Some drivers"shoot the gap" giving no warning of a lane change. If you haven't shared the road with some one playing race driver... you haven't lived.

*COP* Sir, I pulled you over for not signaling to turn.
*GUY NEEDING TICKET* The direction my front wheels were turning was not a signal that I was turning?

A few of those automated camera intersections in the area will cure all local drivers of not stopping for a right turn on a red light. You get the ticket in the mail with a link to your video. Speaking from experience, my rolling right turn was in the 0 dark thirty hours of the morning with NO other traffic. The video did not show another car in sight. Yet I got a $170 ticket.

Yes, its common here. And if I stop to look, and someone behind me starts honking, I sit until the light turns green. After all, the law says "Right turn on red, permitted after stop." It doesn't say I'm required to turn right on red. It says I'm permitted to if I want to.

We don't have those signs. Just signs forbidding it if it isn't permitted. If it ain't posted, it's okay. So cannot use that logic here

In Quebec, they don't have that problem. Right turns on a red light are simply illegal. Got stopped by a cop in Montreal once for doing it, but he let me go with a warning once he saw that my drivers license was an Ontario drivers license.

Doing that will incite road rage in half of the population. Purposely trying to incite road rage in people is very dangerous and not too wise.

Here, if you fail to use an opportunity to go right on red during your driver's exam, you fail the test... You must come to a complete stop and signal before proceeding or you fail the exam.
