50 hrs service

I got the bill for the 50 hour service and was I in sticker shock. $$$$$$. I normally do all my own work on cars, motorcycles, & diesel. Guess I'll be adding tractor to list.
Tractors are lots easier to work on than cars. You may need bigger wrenches and bigger oil catch basins but mostly everything is easier to access on a tractor. I don't know about the new tier IV emissions though since none of my tractors have that crap on them.

You got the shaft. It should never have cost $$$$$$, it should have only cost $$$, or maybe $$$$ at the very most.

Gary, don't be telling all of our secrets!

I'm guessing, if the price included a transportation charge, the final bill might have been $200-225.00. The hydro filters aren't cheap, shop labor could be $90-100 per hr.;without transportation charge, maybe $150.

$303.20 including a magnetic block heater put on it labor $90 on top of it pickup/delivery around 50 miles each way was $95 plus tax and total was $533.36 - plus an added $20 tip for the head mechanic who worked on it and expedited it all.. (front wheel seal leak done under warranty and new battery cable ends put on too under warranty for me)

**** that is fair. and yes everything was done - filters, tighten some stuff and fluids, etc....

that is a chunk of change but for all that was done by a pro it was fair.

I hate to give details cause it just looks bad, but I dropped off and picked up. Cost was $435.00. They showed breakdown and every fluid was changed and all filters. They didn't charge labor on first service. Maybe I'm just cheap when comes to others doing work for me. May not been such a bad deal b.ut I'm budget limited. Lol.

That is a lot for a 50 hour service.. Oil change, air filter change what else is in that? Sounds like a 250 hour service price.

Why are they changing the fuel filter at 50 and why is it so much?

They likely changed both hydraulic filters. Those are very expensive. Just one of mine was $45-50, the other was a bit less. I'm guessing the labor made up a big chunk of the bill.

I just got a trans. filter and it cost $85 and oil brought it up to close to $200. That is doing it yourself. Fuel filters cost another $25 or so. The engine filter was $12 plus oil for $20 more maybe. Plus it took another few hours to change them all.

$435 might be a little high, but at least you didn't wast a bunch of time trying to figure it all out.
