Jim,
Be careful about staying too much in a wheel chair. Dad was walking when he went to the nursing home. But they encouraged him to stay in the wheelchair. Next thing, his rocker disappeared. I then realized Dad couldn't walk. Keep them muscles moving.
hugs, Brandi

Thanks for your concern. the wheel chair is mostly for fun. Just about useless in my yard (about 1.5 acres ), Mostly gravel & rocks. I have walked so much the last few days that 2 nights I have woke up with cramps in my legs. I have an old wheel chair that has been here for a few years. The foot things are missing & its not in so hot of shape. Use it on the slab when I need to bend over.

Got some meat bar b qued that came out fair. Little black on 1 side, but tasted fair. A little sweet for my taste. Next time will make my own sauce or add some A1 or Worcestershire to it. I use to be a good cook ( at least fair.). First or second year that I was here, built a smoker & smoked a turkey & ham. I thought it was the best turkey I ever ate & Cody agreed. Don't remember about the ham, guess it was good as well, it all disappeared. Fun Hot cakes. Add 1 or 2 boxes of Jiffy Mix to your batter & they are a real good change. Use to make good biscuits & gravy, would invite friends over for breakfast they all thought it was good & even bragged that I had them over.

Stared the day with a plan. Smear paint, build window frames. As with most plans, things did not happen a planned. Smeared lots of paint & not much else. All this working is hard on the beer supply. When back gets to me, have to sit down & that calls for a beer. Go back to work & soon finish the beer.:thumbsup: Got the whole inside of deck painted & several other boards. Have an old hot melt glue gun, it gets hot but will not spit out glue. With all the other guns, paint, nail & so on, I want, DHS may show up to make sure I'm not planning a mass murder.:D

More later,
Jim

Dear Crash, I'm not a doctor, but I want to give you just a bit of advice. You need to give your back a rest. The body wants to heal itself, and it will, given the opportunity. Try to take a day of rest. After work, lay down on your back with your legs resting on a chair to take the weight off of your spine. At the same time, if you have neck pain, roll up a hand towel and put it under your neck to help stretch those muscles. I got a booklet from the VA, given me by the physical therapist, with several exercises designed to help strengthen the back.

If you and I were neighbors, I'd love to help you out. In the meantime, may the Lord bless you in every way possible." And if the women don't find you handsome, at least let them find you handy." - Red Green

When I get cramps, after a hard day's work, I take a spoon full of mustard.............just a spoonful. If it was a hot day and I sweated alot...............I take one during the afternoon also. I lick it off the spoon and right past the tongue. Don't want it on the tongue, by itself!

AchingBack... I feel the pain... I get up every morning in pain and stiff. Takes an hour or two moving around to get loose and the pain subsides. Well not really but my mind and activity makes me forget it until I twist and bend just a little too much. Then its wine time after work. I know, it adds to the stomach and weakens the core but the heart is doing okay. In my mind, Stress is the killer. Crash... stay loose. :drink:

I find his extremely interesting, and I'm guessing your mustard is a brand containing turmeric powder. Turmeric is touted as one of the most powerful anti-inflammatory spices on the planet. Another good thing for cramps is a shot glass full of magnesium citrate.

Good Morning,
Thanks for the advice & concern. I'm fairly sure that potassium, Zinc & vitamins would go a long way to keep the cramps from happening. This AM had a little cramp. Day or 2 ago cramp was so bad I woke up screaming. Eating more & healthier would also be a big help. Not sure when I pretty much lost interest in eating. Don't even get hungry very often. When I get some store bought teeth I will be able to eat a lot better. Hopefully things will turn around then. This AM"S little pain is near the appendix, will see it it can be tested new DR visit.

I'm not working very hard or fast. Just a little every day. May only finish the big window frame today. There are several things that I should be fixing other than the deck. But has become very important to me to get the ugly, irritating things out of my life. When the real or heavy work starts I will get some help.

A little on critters & mutts.
2 Strange pit bulls came in the yard a few days ago. Bobby sort of confronted them. 1 Started towards me, I picked up a stick nearby & he stopped. Then turned, got the bb gun & shot him in the butt. They sure put the fear in Bobby, when she came back up on the deck she was shaking. Should they come back it be be more serious than a bb gun. To threaten me in my yard is way over the line. That be human or critter. There was a big coyote out side the fence a few days ago. Grabbed the little gun, but he didn't stay still long enough to get a shot off. No big deal, as long as he stays on that side of the fence & does not go after the mutts.

Hawk is here maybe every day. I see him pretty often. 1 Day he sat about 12 feet away, I looked at him & he looked at me, for quite a little while. Next day he sat a little farther away, but did not stay long. Have another gray squirrel here, he is fun to watch when he comes in for seeds. Birds & mutts are all spoiled, but its fun.

Time to go play, feed birds & think about life in general.
More later,
Jim

I lost my balance and almost fell off a ladder Saturday, have a nice bruise/knot on my shin to prove it. I was handing a bike up to my wife in the loft to store for winter. My daughter was quick to catch me and the bike, otherwise would have been a trip to hospital for sure.. I was only up a few steps, but that concrete is hard.

Stay safe, we don't heal as fast as we get older.

I am trying to figure this out :D. I use my tongue to lick. How do you do this again?

I know the hot stuff at the chinese places I don't let get on the roof of my mouth.

I was also puzzled by the "lick it off the spoon" and "don't want it on the tongue" comment. This should be a interesting or informative reply :)

A Back,
It is just French's Mustard. I keep two bottles in the ice box. One for me and cramps and one for condiments. I also keep a bottle in the hangar's ice box.
