Sunday noise

Around here, they encourage you to mow in the evening as the car traffic has subsided and the air quality won't be as bad. Actually, our air quality isn't all that bad. Its the counties to the west of us whose air drifts over us that causes most of our air issues. And its mostly on the hottest days of the year. Also, in summer, it doesn't get dark until almost 10:00pm. Yikes!

Yeah at the old house in the subdivision we had a neighbor that would mow in the summer at 9 p.m. Sometimes he would still finish after dark and be using the little head lights on his riding mower. Not sure if he worked 2nd shift or what the story was.

It's hard to get ahead of the Sea Fury...unless maybe it's an F4U Corsair! The Spitfire, Hellcat, Bearcat and P51 Mustang are all in there too...not to mention the P38!

The one thing I remember about the Sea Fury was when we tried to put it in the hangar, someone had to rotate the prop so we could "walk" it under the door. It was huge!

This is a pretty ****** post for a moderator, or any decent person for that matter.

Yeah, I thought about it.... but based on personal observations from within the organization for the past 55 years, its what I see.

I've seen a few guys like that. Sometimes between work and rain, you gotta hit it when you can hit it. I've picked up leaves with the tractor well after dark. When you get off work at 5, don't get home until 6, it gets dark at 7 and its been raining for 3-4 days and its finally dry enough to get em up, you get em up. Glad we switch time a little later now. I was picking up leaves today until 5, when I stopped to make dinner.

That law was generally enacted to prevent the folks that don't bother going to church...from getting a head start on the folks that do go to church...!

Reminds me of a town south of me a few miles. the town has like 4 churches and 5 bars. And one of the bars was next to the church, which was owned by the minister. He would lead his flock out the front door of the church on Sunday and straight into the bar.

Saw two more A10's this evening just before dinner. My wife saw them at lunch. There must be some recruiting going on at Notre Dame this week.

They play Navy this weekend, but its an away game. I like it when they play Navy or Air Force, because you can always count on a great fly-over of the stadium, when they come back to the airport, they buzz the field, bank right over our house, rattle all the windows, then land and go watch the game!

It wasn't meant to insinuate that all Catholics got to Saturday evening mass, then get drunk on Saturday night and skip church Sunday morning, although, re-reading it, it kinda looks that way, so I do take responsibility for that. Its more about the too lazy or not wanting to be inconvenienced about getting up early than the drinking part. Although, I will say, a great majority of our friends from church, if they're going to party, its gonna be on Saturday night! I'll leave it at that as this is more of a topic for the front porch.

Anyhow....

Our society is what one of our priests called "cafeteria-style". He was referring to how people pick and choose which Catholic rules to observe or break, but it applies to pretty much every aspect of life. Some of us don't speed. Some of us speed a little. Some of us drive like bats out of heck. Some of us pay taxes. Some of us work for cash on the side and don't report it. Some of us even try to use a 25% off coupon at Harbor Freight when an item is already on sale!!! Its all in how each of us individuals see right and wrong. For the most part, people enjoy getting away with small stuff, but do feel a bit of guilt somewhere deep back in the grey matter if they feel it was too much to get away with. Store forgot to ring up a pack of gum... if I notice it at the checkout, I'll say "I think you missed this." If I get home and notice its not on the receipt, I'm not going back. I'm chewin it! So that's the fate of a pack of gum. Now what if its steaks? Nice T-bones. $20 worth of meat. You get home and they're not on the receipt. Is it free steak night at your house? Or are you gonna take the receipt back the next time you go to the store and tell them they didn't charge you?

Gum
Steak
Gum
Steak
:confused3:

We all pick and choose our actions and internally justify how we live with those actions. In the end, we die.

Dirt?
Heaven?
****?
Gum?
Steak?

:confused3:

Ahhh... The great moral dilemma...

Agree with MossRoad, and others... Society in general isnt as likely to look out for each other as it is to look out for ones self these days. Its quite a shame...
