This is a pretty ****** post for a moderator, or any decent person for that matter.

I was initially a little offended by his stupid comment......but after review of some of his earlier posts was reminded that he is not the brightest dolt on this forum.... just dumb!

Getting to know the local customs in an area takes a bit of time.....and some effort.
At my place in the country, I am the newcomer. It is on a private road that runs along the "front edge" of my land. In fact, I own the land where it runs up the mountain. But during this time of year, we have lots of trucks going up and down the road, full of hunters with dogs. Most are local but don't live several miles away. They just finished "bear dog training season" and in a 2 weeks they will start the actual bear hunting season, and the dogs will be running all over the place. This means there will be people walking across my place from time to time looking for their dogs. I don't like it. But it is a local custom. As long as they are respectful of my property I will wave and greet them. I have given water to a few of their worn out dogs that showed up when I was working. Even shared a sandwich or two. I modified my land usage plan, keeping a larger space between my orchar and my closest neighbors. I also try not to fire up the machines too early on Sunday, since they do an AirBnB at their place. We have had sunday hunting for a few years in VA. I hunt. IF one of the monster bucks that I have on camera strolls out when I'm there at the crack of dawn on Sunday morning, I won't be holding my shot for worry about noise.

Yes, I agree and hope the original poster will agree as well.

People that denigrate others religion need to be called out.

Anybody operating non essential noisy power equipment prior to 8:00AM week s
Days and 10:00PM weekends should have open season declared on them. Come to think of it there was a news story a few years ago about some dork that kept cutting his lawn at 6:00AM on week ends . One day his mower quit working, had something to do with a 30 caliber , 180grain slug that went through the motor.
Somebody that has to plant or harvest crop to get it in or off in time can work at any hour of the day.

Very subjective topic.

The quieter it is, the more any sound seems to travel (obviously).

I like quiet as the sun sets, enjoying tranquility.

Last night two things disturbed the silence. Dogs barking a quarter mile away and some stupid (lawn mower in a can) generator screaming away, miles away, belonging to some off-gridders! The neighborhood has to pay for them to be off grid, I guess.

I'm not religious, by any stretch of the imagination, but find myself praying that, that 3600 rpm POS will self-distruct sooner rather then later.

Fill one of the gas cans with 100% Methanol . This will quiet down the generator .
It has worked to quiet down the mini bikes and ATV's that used to roar around my brother's place . He locked the rest of the fuel away but left the five gallon of methanol out in plain sight in his garden shed. Odd how his affected the neighbour kid's bikes???

One spring Sunday morning several years ago we were awakened at 7:30 a.m. by chain saws and a wood chipper. Really close. The whole family was sleeping soundly enjoying a cool spring Sunday morning with all the windows open. I immediately assumed that there was a tree down on a house, car or across the road. We live on a tree lined street and this is fairly common. But, I looked out the window and right across the street they were removing a standing tree. I walked across the street and asked the crew if this was an emergency. They said no. I then called the police to ask them what the sound ordinance was for this sort of thing; the answer was they can start any time after 7:30, any day of the week. So I called my neighbor, who I know, and asked him what the @#$% he was thinking about. He apologized profusely and said the tree company told him that the tree could fall on his house any minute now and that they could do it right then and no other time. Well, this was a living tree, not in great shape, but in no real risk of falling that Sunday morning. I called the tree company and complained. They didn't care. I panned them on all the social media that I could think of, which resulted in nothing but making me feel better. But, on a street where we get a lot of tree work done, all the neighbors, who were also awakened, agreed not to use this service.

It still makes me mad to this day.

My son became Catholic before getting married so they could have typical 3 hour Catholic Mass, (I still think some of those saints were made up).
When he told us he planned to become Catholic, I asked if he had to be passed through a Catholithic convertor. His in laws have a good sense of humor and got a good laugh from that. Me, I'm an old Southern Baptist, we recognize each other in the store and in church, but I won't know you in the strip club! :D

We all have our ways...

We're all sinners. Some of us just know it.

I once heard a friend say that church was just a place full of people who think they're better than everybody else. I told him our church was full because we all know we're as bad or worse than everybody else.
