235 will likely be built off the 252 platform, so probably 220 only, rather than 120/220 capable.

I had a 252 a while back it was a pretty good unit. However the 235 is definitely a inverter unit, so it'll be a new design. That said, I don't mind if it's 220 only, but I would like for it to have a tig gas valve.

Thought the Fabricator 252i was an inverter based system:confused:

Looks like the fabricator might be. It appears they've had several machines with the 252 number over the years and I was thinking of a different one.

235 is a dual voltage system.

According to ESAB REBEL™ 235ic WELDERS OFFER UNBEATABLE COMBINATION OF POWER, PORTABILITY AND PERFORMANCE | SEMA Show looks like the 235 is 120/240v

Unmatched Portability and Multi-process Performance
At 53 lbs. and with a 235-amp rated output at 40% duty cycle (maximum output is 250 amps/30 volts), Rebel 235ic has the best power-to-weight ratio in its category, allowing users who need maximum flexibility when moving a welding machine around the shop or working in the field. The machine automatically detects the correct single-phase input power from 90 to 270V. Rebel 235ic comes wired with a 230V plug; users simply need to attach the supplied power adapter to connect to 120V power. Rebel 235ic holds 4, 8 or 12 in. wire spools, features dual gas ports with solenoid valves and has optional single- and dual-cylinder carts, remote amperage controls and spool guns for MIG aluminum.

Sounds Great, I know the other Rebel. I don't know the 235i. I did look up the price..I'd buy a Miller or Lincoln at that price. Just sayin. ESAB is a dying ember. IMHO.

Yomax, that is not a very strong endorsement. I thought ESAB was doing quite well when they bought out Victor and Thermal Arc...they certainly seemed to be doing quite well.

$2600 is getting up there, but what Lincoln or Miller would be in that category? Street price should be about $2300, based off the 215ic.

I thought I saw a advertised price of around $1800 for the 235, but I could have been wrong.
