I would like to take this time for my semi-annual ' I hate DST changes ' rant.... Still don't think it is worth the bother... End of rant....

Agree.

Dont know what is DST and what is normal.....but I wished we would stay what we are on all through the summer.

Gets daylight ~730-800 in the morning......stays light til 630.

Shifting back an hour, makes sunset a little after 5pm once in december. Thats just TOO soon.

There must be someone who likes the change back and forth, but I haven't met him yet.

OK, I'll be that bloke. I don't mind it at all and it gives me the opportunity to change all of the batteries in those units that use one. We changed ('sprung' forward) a few weeks ago (although Queensland and the NT(?)) don't bother... so I'm 'living in the future!'

I will spend about a day tomorrow changing time at the Hospital... clocks, medical devices, fax machines, security systems, parking lot timers, etc...

It was not something I minded as for 19 years I worked one weekend day each week as I had Thursday off... now I work 45 to 50 during the week and twice a year I have to give a weekend day to change clocks...

It is one of the wonders of be salaried...

They have shortened the "standard" period to a mere 4 months now from the old 50/50...takes humans a few days to get used to it. Takes our dogs longer. I imagine cows might be confused also. Those of us in the north don't really notice the daylight change. I'd vote to eliminate it.

I'm another one.
We moved forward a couple of weeks ago too. Looking at the responses it appears that 'down under' we are moving into summer and look forward to more evening daylight. Whereas those moving into winter and crappy weather not so enthused. Here we are already permanently half-an-hour forward so our 'regular' time is GMT + 12

Just didn't think about anywhere but the USA. In fact, I didn't even know how much of the world changes time each year. But anyway, I went ahead and changed 11 clocks this evening. Fortunately, 2 computers and 2 cell phones will change without me doing anything to them.

I think most of Europe still does it (the German's first came up with the idea in WWI I think). I don't there is any uniformity on start/stop dates though. When I worked in Switzerland the normal time difference was 6 hours to NY time but there was a week or so where it was 7 hours.

It must be the Orthopaedic surgeons who are behind this. One can only imagine the number of old folks who fall off chairs, ladders, tables etc. trying reach a wall clock indoors or outdoors. I guess I could just let those suckers run on as is till the battery dies or I die. Maybe one of my kids will take the wall clocks down. Nah-h-h.:D

Interesting story I saw that talked about all the business interests involved (golf courses, movie theaters, etc.). I didn't see anything about orthopedic surgeons though!:)

I don't like all the other stuff I have to do at the clock change. Replace smoke detector batteries, swap septic system, flip mattress, wash pillows, clean oven, clean dryer vent, and all them other "chores" one is supposed to do when we change the clocks.

If we abolish this time change twice a year thing, that's lits of chores I no longer have to worry about

Leave the clocks alone and just change the time things are done.
