For all of the reasons stated in this thread I refuse to ask my father-in-law if my friends or cousins can hunt on his property. Though they ask. Though they are friends and relatives; I don't know their hunting ethics. The last thing I need is one of them pissing him off.

It is interesting to see people hunting, seemingly normal people turn into dimwits when they are after an animal.

Buddy of mine has equipment , he finds a new pickup parked on his property . He grabs a bobcat and builds a wall of dirt 4 ft high all around the truck . He leaves an old flat shovel with a note taped to it . " No trespassing , like the 30 signs say , next time I dig a hole , leave the shovel when you are done "

You know he was smiling the whole time he was building that wall.

A moat is a kind of a hole.

Well what's your friend's theory..? keep us guessing. I don't really know the answer either I was just fooling around!

WOW! This thread sure took a turn for the... well, somewhere else!

But to answer your question: My friend's theory is that they can't get hunting licenses in AL due to their numerous violations of...... shooting parked ATVs.

Just kidding about that last part! Probably due to numerous state game and/or trespassing violations. But that's just a guess on my part.

Gun season starts this Saturday, it will be interesting if they show up or not.

And back to the shooting parked ATVs, 126 year vets or crippled ladies or whatever you were talking about.....

Actually, more stories about trespassers and how you've dealt with them good or bad would be great.

Thanks,

Our gun season comes in on monday. I may have new stories after that, as we have spotted an albino deer in our field below the barn. The temptation to trespass may be too much for someone, they will likely find out how firey my redheaded wife can be!

That sounds about right.... guys like that do not stop hunting they just find more people/places to take advantage of.

Laws or not, anybody caught in our fields without permission will suffer the consequences. And nobody will be harming that unique animal if my wife or I have anything to do about it.

Our driveway is about 1/2 mile long and is clearly posted PRIVATE DRIVE NO TRESPASSING at the entrance. Sometimes trespassing hunters come all the way to the house to turn around in the yard and sometimes they drive through the yard, open the gate and drive out in to the pasture. It does not help that Google maps and GPS maps show our driveway as a public road going through our yard and back pasture that is Not there - Nor has ever been there. Every year we catch several hunters who tell us their outfitter had this land leased or they were just lost and did not see our signs. A lot of land around us is leased but not my quarter. With heavy hunting traffic all around, and our land having hills, a water source, tall grass, trees, and thickets wild game naturally migrates here for winter. This week pheasant season opened. I was at work when my wife was outside taking care of her animals. two pickups full of bird hunters came into our yard. They told here the same BS story about their outfitter who leases land behind our place said this was his to hunt. After being told the same BS for years by a hundred other trespassing hunters we have no pity on them. My wife told them to get the he11 off our land and as usual the guy said you don't have to get bent out of shape we did not see your no trespassing sign till we were already down you drive. That just made here madder and they backed up, turned around and left. Now once in a while we do get some one who is legitimately lost. Like last week a water well outfit showed up at the house. They were looking of our neighbors place. My wife had a nice conversation and got them headed in the right direction.
