dirt ditch - brother, do I understand the feeling you & your wife have!!! They are either blind, can't read or don't really give a S**T. For years a mapping company out of Seattle - Metsker - showed my private driveway as a public road on their Spokane county map. Finally, after several emails and two phone calls, they sent a company representative to investigate and now my driveway is no longer shown, at all. I've had occasion to email Google, not about my driveway, about an improper road designation and they were Johnny-on-the-spot. Changed what they showed as a paved road to what it actually was - a dirt cow path.

My land is not grazed on by cows - so obviously, the grass is tall, the trees aren't broken down and there are two lakes on the property. All the game moves here during the hunting seasons and winter because of this. Unfortunately, so do a lot of the hunters - or they try too.

Just about the time I get the current batch of hunters informed - a new grouping appears. They seem to multiply like dandelions in my lawns.

dirt ditch, I had a simular situation where google maps showed "roads" on my property. If you have a google account, you can log in and send "feed back" to google.

I had google update the map. they were very quick and now my private trails don't show up as public roads!

I just plan all my out front fence line clearing work for that week of deer season. Get's me out there to get an eyeball on the orange retards cruising slowly by. They seem to get less each year.

The crazy shooting gallery approach to hunting seems to have gone out of style around here as well. Come the first light of season, it used to sound like the Eastern Front.

Our driveway is about 1/2 mile long and is clearly posted PRIVATE DRIVE NO TRESPASSING at the entrance. Sometimes trespassing hunters come all the way to the house to turn around in the yard and sometimes they drive through the yard, open the gate and drive out in to the pasture. It does not help that Google maps and GPS maps show our driveway as a public road going through our yard and back pasture that is Not there - Nor has ever been there. Every year we catch several hunters who tell us their outfitter had this land leased or they were just lost and did not see our signs. A lot of land around us is leased but not my quarter. With heavy hunting traffic all around, and our land having hills, a water source, tall grass, trees, and thickets wild game naturally migrates here for winter. This week pheasant season opened. I was at work when my wife was outside taking care of her animals. two pickups full of bird hunters came into our yard. They told here the same BS story about their outfitter who leases land behind our place said this was his to hunt. After being told the same BS for years by a hundred other trespassing hunters we have no pity on them. My wife told them to get the he11 off our land and as usual the guy said you don't have to get bent out of shape we did not see your no trespassing sign till we were already down you drive. That just made here madder and they backed up, turned around and left. Now once in a while we do get some one who is legitimately lost. Like last week a water well outfit showed up at the house. They were looking of our neighbors place. My wife had a nice conversation and got them headed in the right direction.

Perhaps a gate would be in order?

Late to the thread, but will catch up tomorrow.

We bought our house and property in 2014 and the first year during deer season I found a trail of footprints of someone coming in, crossing the driveway within view of the house and continuing in the woods. He also was hammering reflective tacks into the trees.

Took a picture of me with a crazy smile on my face and an AR in hand and had a custom sign printed with said picture that said "No Trespassing. Property patrolled by this drunk OEF vet who is armed and refuses to take medication"

Put it at the trail crossing.

Laws or not, anybody caught in our fields without permission will suffer the consequences. And nobody will be harming that unique animal if my wife or I have anything to do about it.

Same here. We have a massive whitetail buck living on our place. We want to see him live to an old age. Boone and Crockett can kiss this one good bye.

The first year we bought our 20 acres, we found several dirt bike trails on it coming in at about 4 different locations, as well as several crude deer stands and one nice one. I posted signs that the trails and property were closed, would be blocked off in X days, and no trespassing. And I wrapped trees on both sides of the trails with orange caution tape to draw attention to the signs. After X days were up, about 50' in to the property on the trails, I dropped several locust trees, formed them in 10' X across the trails, and wrapped them with caution tape as well. Heck, I didn't want anyone to get hurt, I just wanted them to stop using the place. Well, I went back several weeks later and someone had stolen the logs that I had laid across the trails. I followed the drag marks about a 1/4 mile down an old railroad grade and found them. I also found more trimmed branches along the trails and someone posted arrow directional signs on the trails! So, I removed all of their signs, kept putting up the big X logs, and following mud tracks on the back road until one day they were really good mud tracks and I found a house with several dirt bikes in the drive. I called the police, they had a talk with the people, and that stopped that.

As for the deer stands, I removed the crude ones (just boards nailed in tree crotches and wood steps). The nice one got tuned into the county police. I left a note in a plastic bag on the tree that they could reclaim their stand at the county police station if they wanted it and that was that.

I once found the reflective tacks in my trees as well. I followed them and found a camo tarp ground blind in some thick brush. I removed the tacks and the camp tarp. They didn't come back either.

The most disturbing one to me was I was just driving by one day and saw two guys in camo with bows standing in our trails. I pulled into the drive over the hill, got out, and went looking for them.... guess what? I couldn't find them. They were in camo! The thought of me tromping around mad about trespassers wearing camo armed with bows.... I decided to let that one go and just notified the DNR office.

I found a salt block and a pile of carrots on the place once, too. That's illegal here during hunting season. So I called the DNR. Got to know the DNR guy in this area pretty good by phone. Never met him in person. I know he watches the place, because he stopped my in-laws cutting firewood out there one time and called me to make sure they were O.K. :laughing:
