But my best deterrent is that I got to know the people that own the property next to ours. We have a lot in common, neither of us live on our adjoining properties, and we get along well. I don't hunt (I fish), so I let him have free run of the place. Our side is mostly wooded. His side is mostly field. He's planting food plots and I'm managing our forest. He spends more time out there than I do and has about 3 tree stands on our place. I mow the trails back to the stands. He chases out trespassers. I leave him firewood for his campfire. He gives me venison. Life's good! Get to know your neighbors.

That's a good neighbor. I gave my neighbor full run of our property and he watches over it like it was his own as we don't live there and an hour away. It's a win win situation for us.

Father in law was a big time hunter. He would let anyone hunt the property. All kinds of game. Well, he got sick and none of these "friends" offered any help with the property. One guy even had the audacity to tell me that one of the roads to the back of the farm was blocked by a downed tree and he couldn't get back there. I told him I would fix it the next day. I went to town and bought gates and locks for all of the access points. Haven't had anymore complaints about downed trees.

oosik, BLXSJ, thanks, I have an android phone so I probably do have a Google account but the only apps I use on it are the camera, calculator, and alarm so I will see if I can figure out how to contact them to remove my driveway from their maps.
Thall303, A gate would be nice but my drive way starts at the end of the county road and there is no way to fence it off. Right at the start, my driveway goes over a hill then a 90 deg. curve at the bottom, it follows the property line between my pasture and my neighbors field. Other than the first couple hundred feet my driveway is hidden from view from any county road. Once in a while my neighbor uses my driveway to get to the back side of his field. He is a really good neighbor and I don't want to inconvenience him. The county has Dead End and No Through Traffic signs posted at the intersection before my private driveway which is posted as such at the entrance. So any one who shows up at my place knows they are not supposed to be there.

Our county road we live on has dead end sign where it comes off the highway. There are a few more houses at the past us, but the road does NOT go anywhere past them. We still get folks that don't believe the dead end sign, they claim the road goes through. Google maps shows a large part of neighbors driveway as road, but it still does not go through.

We had some younger folks parking on the county road a few years ago at night. Dogs would not shutup and we could not see the car in the dark. I went out with flashlight, camera and 9mm, not knowing what I would find. When I found the car (500' from our driveway), I asked them if I could help them, they responded, No, we are just talking. I said no problem, public road, I have picture of car and license plate, stay as long as you like, if anything happens around here, your information will be provided to sheriff. I did not show my gun and was courteous with the light. They left quickly and we never saw them again. I had no problem if they wanted to stay, but I was suspicious and glad they left.

I found out in the last year why so many of the neighbors put gates on their driveways in the last 5 years. Most of them had been robbed, most during the middle of the day when no one was home. I am so glad I work from home..

I had google update the map. they were very quick and now my private trails don't show up as public roads!

Thanks for that. My circle driveway shows to be a road also, so I did as you suggested. I just got an email saying it may take 24 hours to correct.

I wonder if that is why traffic drove through all these years without stopping for coffee.
