How Ironic that at the begining of this thread the Mahindra stocks were dropping as I read (figurative). At the end of the thread.. everyone has "Lift Envy" (Again Figurative). ... Glad to hear it turned out good for IH. Welcome to TBN !

Well... after all said and done we now own a Mahindra 2555. They bought back the 2538 and we paid some of the difference in the upgrade. The difference between the 2538 and the 2555 is night and day. The 2555 has a lot more useful features, like load sensing and 3 sensitivity settings for the hydro pedals, and is built much heavier. The operators station is much more comfortable, but the drive by wire hydro pedals and throttle take some getting use to. And the lifting capacity is crazy. The log in the picture is a Red Oak that is 26' long and 23" in diameter, its somewhere in the range of 3500-3800lbs.

As far as Mahindra goes, in the end they took care of us, but getting to the end was a bit of a battle.

I did the math because I figured you calculated the oak weight wrong, but I came up with 3500 lbs also. Impressive. Just a note, when lifting crazy heavy with any front end loader, be gentle on the HST pedal. The front axle is at about max load and if you hammer the throttle/HST pedal (or clutch for shuttle users) with the front axle super loaded, you increase the risk of busting something. Having the backhoe on and loaded rear tires helps as the rear axle will be planted enough to help with the ground travel tasks. That keeps the front axle from having to do all the work.

I found with my B7800 (w/HST) that maxing out the loader (loaded rears and a heavy box blade) would result in steering being extremely difficult, so much so that I wasn't really going to be able to travel at any significant speed- I had no real steerage! :eek:

Could you get it to full lift height?

While it is cool to see something that heavy lifted that high, my pucker limiter would have kicked in well before and I would have backed off. I know you weren't moving so that is cool. Really like the background in that picture too.

Excellent lift capacity on your tractor. I tested mine out with a bucket full of old cement blocks (40) up to full height like you did. I'm not ever gonna lift anything that high again if I can get by without it. You're gonna like the additional capacity of that unit over your older one.

Good catch - I never work without mine up (even use the seat belt) - seen too many injuries over the years due to folks not wearing or using safety devices.

Yesterday in San Francisco a warehouse forklift driver toppled when he turned too soon and went off the side of the ramp... it was 14 inches high.

Forklift landed on it's side and he was crushed... had ROPS but the driver was not wearing the seatbelt.
